Sorry after all my "I'll make an effort"talk I was gone again!
I went off to VLM with a song in my heart, got chatting (as you do) to several fast runners in the FGFA corral & all but one were Irish, they were telling me road races have really taken hold of the country, with most towns hosting a mini-marathon (God I hate that term ..a mini-marathon to me is more like 25 miles) 5k..or 10 milers & halfs& fuels getting increasingly popular too
Plus as my tri-participant-brother points out, running is free & the country is in a shambles at the moment financially
I've entered for two halfs in the Autumn:Royal Parks & Bristol,Oct & Sep & potentially 2 in Spring:Watford & Brighton both in Feb
I've been told by one running friend that as I read so much about runners I now think it's normal to do this kind of stuff,eg I have a friend in the USA who has a place in Leadville 100,her second ultra this year,so now I'm having my doubts, maybe I am reading CC doing her race,Carovet doing her amazing marathon etc that I have my head in the clouds
CC have a wonderful race..I'm keeping out of Central London for tomorrow,a friend who lives near Hyde Park is escaping tonight from it all with his family, but we will enjoy it from our living room!

Ooh a question fast/running/girls-I have a pal who did a marathon up the Highlands last weekend & he's suffered 2 identical "fails" this & last Spring marathon. He has trained for a 3.15 & by his shorter-race times it looks a pretty solid goal but for one thing.Around mile 20 he starts cramping, this time he got so bad he fell over in a stream his legs locked solid,he limped home in 3.39 when at mile 20 he was on for 3-3.10.He'd hydrated used SIS gel, tried spots drinks the preceding week..he says he sweats tons & it was hot both marathons.Any thoughts?

I stole it from somewhere else! But yeah I did a lot of talking to myself & arguing with God asking why,"am I not good, are my kids not special enough for this IDIOT husband?".Took a long time to sink in that it wasn't my fault,I put down my burdens on the road as you do,& kept going I swear this running thing has saved my life

I run for alone time. I run to get over the stress from work. I argue with God while I run. I imagine I’m leaving everything behind. I’m challenging myself. I’m making my mind the boss of my body. I’m enjoying the breeze when I’m overheated. I’m marveling at the snowfall and saddened that everyone else is missing it. I run to relax. I run when it hurts down deep. I listen to God while I run. I run to make me strong. I run because it makes me a better husband and father. I run to clear my mind and emotions. Running builds muscle, resolve, and focus. That’s why I run.

- Ken Clouser ('I ? to run' fan)

Fave statement: "I argue with God when I run" followed by "I listen to God while I run" -- yes I do.

Thanks everyone just quickly catching up a bit with everyone there are as always some FABULOUS racing being done, gorgeous kids being SO expensive to look after,& the stupid injuries occurring.Sympathies to all,I've had more than my fair share but I found out a few things I suspected 1:core is v weak at the lower end(lazy from 3 babies),my glutes don't fire(lazy Ar$€ syndrome)& I don't use my arms AT ALL when I run.I know you girls are much better & faster than me but the physio I went to said it's SO common for the first 2 especially, rife in female runners
CM when I was around before all that stuff was up in the air, wow!I'm not sure what's happening with us,but I'm the king in my home right now & the kids are much better behaved when it's just us!You were always amazingly strong & itll take some doing to put you down now

Thanks girls, those who know me a while may rem there were issues with sex-texts,other women including when I was pregnant last,& with porn.I got myself an iPhone last summer & was able to keep in touch more & more, especially with the Nike+ runners,so every day on FB while I had my run-feed from Nike going in the USA runners & some of you guys would put comments. With the US runners there was often innuendo & people reported this back to the hubby,he snooped on my phone & in my emails, wanting to know who this person was etc.As he was up to no good himself he began to get very clingy around me demanding to know where I was running & accused me of getting up early to run so I could go meet a lover.I had increasing disgust for the sexual things he asked me to do & he flipped it saying I was"getting it"elsewhere that's why I wasn't interested in him.In October I broke down, couldn't stand it any more, got on the phone to my parents in Ireland & they said to come home to Ireland.I very nearly did,one by one the kids got chicken pox so I had to calm down.We tried for a bit but the hubby moved out end Feb,& we have been working from there ever since Sigh...my running has been keeping me sane!

This is not the update folks just to say I'm a volounteer at VLM again this year,I'll either be at the entrances for the FGFA starts"numbers please"& as it's the only taste I ever get of that place I really love that job or I'll be at the Blue/Green starts herding runners
Fb fans will know me from my ton of red hair & my non-runners physique (like the bees in Bee Movie I fly anyway )

And TB I'm ok NOW but I was all over the place for a loooonnggg time
I think the hubby isn't really able to deal with me being strong now,I hold my ground,or he calls me "too hard too stubborn"
