|About me:||I am nearly 61 and have just retired so I can spend more time on the hobby I love - running. I have been a runner on and off since my late 30s. To be honest, it has been more off than on, partly because I've had a busy career but mainly because of frequent injuries.
After missing the GNR, yet again, last September (2013), and crying buckets in frustration, I decided I had to do something radical, but what. That was the question. After all, I had just paid out for an expensive trainer for two years and still not managed to get to the Start line.
I searched and searched for both a new approach and some sort of physio to sort my body out. Last autumn I found both. First, I found a great chiropractor, Adam, who has done much to get rid of old scar tissue and rebalance my body. And then I found the Jeff Galloway site. He is the guru of the Run/Walk/Run training and racing method. After much worrying that using walking as well as running was simply not right, I thought sod it and gave it a go.
It was like a Road to Damascus experience. Jeff has been e-coaching me from America since the beginning of the year. Having not made it to the start line of a race for 3 years, within 4 months he got me to the position where I could run the Blackpool Half at the end of Feb 2014 and London Marathon in April! Okay, so I'm still slow, who wouldn't be at my age and with. only 5 months consistent running under their belt, but I have got my hobby back, and I am definitely improving.|
