Another lurker here....
I have used a 2 week taper for my marathons, and not had any issues with it- also I have not done such high mileage as some of the others. I think the most important thing is that you actually do cut back, and listen to your programme and resist the 'taper madness'. a 3 week one is possibly better for newer runners too?
