Brooks Glycerin 10 versus Glycerin 8

Posted: 24/05/2013 at 16:58

As my Gycerin 8s are rapidly coming to the end of their useful life, does anyone here have any specific experiences relating to the differences between the 8s and 10s?

I am a forefoot runner, if that helps, and have been very happy with the Gycerin 8s.

Many Thanks,

Dave

117 FTW !!!!!

not  (and they got my age wrong: they added a year; well some weeks)

I pass the Broadlands gates each morning, so I'll make a point of glancing in to see the state of snow drifts or glacier melt.

I assume we pick up our numbers with our timing chips on the day? Anyone?

Hello All - I thought I'd blatantly  bump this thread and ask how is everyone's preparation going?

Only three weeks to go

I have now entered this. Some weeks respite before the end of Jan 2013 should allow all my bits to recover after the weekend's excesses................

It will be interesting to see how close they get to the 1000 max runners (last year 364), and if they do, how the course handles soooooo many runners.

Is anyone else following this thread?? We 'internet people' need to find a way to recognise each other, at least at when gathering the start....

I agree with Zoe - it was my first event at this distance, and only my 3rd event overall (10k, 10m, then this - all since March this year) so being very new at this I feel qualified to speak.

There were faster runners, but they didnt really affect what I was doing. Quite impressive to see them, though - for the brief time they were in view. The marshalls were excellent, really encouraging for plodders like me, and a real credit to the organisers.

While Zoe claims not to be fast, she aint no slouch. Not that I am holding any grudges at not being able to keep up

...well if people insist on stopping for a chat whilst supping their water, I suppose it would add a few mins (/sarc)

Agreed it was a great course, superb weather, and a great day. The final leg along the prom was fantastic, and took my mind off those mountainous gentle slopes. Marshalls were superb BTW.

Bearing in mind I am at the start of my running 'career' (at the grand old age of nevermind), I would need to select carefully what I do, but yes I would do that one again, if only to haul my old bones around the course to whoop yo' ass (is that the right way to say that ).

Does anyone here know if the person (lady, I think) who fell over entering the airfield the second time is okay. Were they able to carry on running? It sounded quite serious.........

Likewise - nice to meet you Zoe. Thanks for the pace for the first few miles, but I couldn't keep up  Second time around the airfield was a bit gruelling for me, but that band lifted the mood.
