Hi

The course is all very runnable and the trail parts are along wide trail paths that are mostly smooth although there are some parts that have undulating bits, by and large though the trail doesn't have overgrown parts as it's the round the reservoir trail used extensively by walkers, runners and it's well maintained, so not fouled at all. Hope this helps.

I can't seem to enter anywhere on their ridiculous site can't understand why they don't have such a big city race with English translation either.

Guys we're hoping the Summer race is nice and toasty for you this year, though the Winter one could well be rainy (though hopefully not). You can rest assured if you're doing the Summer or Winter ones (or both) that you won;t be on your own, we are at 200 + runners for the Winter one already and have nearly 800 runners for the Summer one so no more entries for this! The CP's will be very well stocked with homemade flapjacks, jelly babies, GU Gels, crisps, banana's and there will be water, fruit cordial in abundance. It's much flatter / faster this year as we won't be running through Richmond Park as per course description so all you racing snakes will be able to run like gazelles !!! See some of you in just over 2 weeks time we're really excited !!! Road shoes will be fine as long as it hasn't rained in the days leading up to the event, if so wear a less aggressive trail shoe.

We'll do the best we can to ensure that you all have a great experience and we have some entertainment planned at the start but you'll have to wait and find out what that is. See you all in a few weeks time.

Kathy we have about 400 runners for the full marathon and 350 for the half so IRO 750 in total. We've had to start the marathon at 10am as there is a Park Run scheduled for 9am starting at the YMCA too thus the later start time. All said and done the field should spread out and we'll get the racing snakes to set off at the start of the field. It'll be a great event mark my works - we're almost full now. In respect of re-route I have already got contingency measures in place. Near the Ship Pub (Thames Bank) we have an alternative route going along the pedestrian path to where the White Hart Pub is just before Barnes Bridge this will be well marshalled at both ends and marked with fixed signage. We have done everything possible to cover all eventualities.

We'll have GU Energy gels, bananas, crisps, jelly babies, flapjacks and water by the truck load. People were filling hydration packs last year so that's the reason we ran out of water only on CP3 as far as I'm aware, but we've remedied this by getting evenmore water containers (we had 4 per CP we'll have 6 now). Regarding MP3's we cannot allow these due to the UKA regulations, which affects our Race licenses so unfortunately we have to adhere to this - it's a lovely course though so at least you'll hear the birds and parakeeks in Richmond Park as you run through it.We will be marking the course thorougly so no-one should go off course, and as this is a trail marathon we're not using mile markers, so please use Garmins if you want to get your mile splits, this will be fully Chip Timed though so you'll have accurate times recorded. We look forward to seeing yo in less than 3 weeks time.

Hi Matthew
Thanks for the message, the course as Emmy says is 90% flat and is abd out and back course through Richmond Park and then along the Thames Path to Putney Bridge and back to the school where you get a nice hot meal and your lovely medal. Ithink if its a nice sunny day, not to hot you wont have congestion issues as you would on a big road marathon course. In terms of PB potential its not pancake flat on just the penultimate hill but apart from that its flat/downhill so I think you could well achieve a PB. Aside from that its a lovely, scenic course and I think youd really enjoy it. Have a look at the You Tube feeds on the above link and tell me you're not inspired to run it PB or not PB ! Thanks Emmy for your feedback too it will be great to see you again and its going to be bigger and even better than last year.Hope your training goes well Matt & Emmy.

Thanks to you all for your wonderful support. This years race will be the best yet. We had a pretty big field of runners last year so we had a problem with a water shortage on a couple of checkpoints which were difficult to re-supply very quickly, baring in mind some guys were filling up with hydropacks the 40 liters at each checkpoint soon went so we're going to double up this year and there will be extensive markers so no-one should have any issues on this pretty straigh forward out-back course. The bespoke medals will dazzle that's a promise and of course it'll be Chip Timed and Race Photo's will be on sale at very reasonable prices post race the You Tube Feeds I'm sure you'll agree from last years race were great : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4BYU-bRaYk anyway rest assured we'll do our best to make your day very special, believe me I take it personally to do the best I can in all departments to make you guys happy ! We'd love to see you there again and for those that haven't done it believe me you'll love it.
