Realistic expectations

just for an almost pointless reference i did ladybower in 9:00:07 ( how gutting) and sdw100 in 23:22 in the same year - if thats any help i dont know  but does seem to agree with GeeeM - also did equinox last year but was injured but i did do a few laps and i think i would have done the 100 in about 21 to 22 hours if all was equal

Rules on 'self supported'

Posted: 15/12/2014 at 19:37

depends on the race directors rules, for the t184 we wasnt allowed to buy stuff and was given water every 25 miles but you could use canal taps, you wasnt allowed to share kit, you had to carry all the kit you would use for the event in your pack. an unsupported race of 50 miles is very different to one of 100 miles or more so its obvious to me that different rules for different events would be the right thing to do

i was on the verge of doing it but bottled it, got a couple of friends that are doing it, the loops wont be any problem for them - they are used to doing 1.1 mile loops round the enduroman course at avon tyrrell. they dont need luck, they need a labotomy

Are ultra runners fast or plodders?

imo if your hip flexors hurt - strengthen them, and see what hurts next and strengthen that body part, no good having great quads if another body part is weak, strong chain / weakest link and all that

Enduroman 2015

i did a 100 miler , 2 x80 and a few 50s on the bike and probably did the same running, cant remember if the sdw100 was 2 weeks before the double or after it - either way it was my first 100 run - cycling is over rated - it makes your arse sore and you look a twat when you try to walk in cleats. ironman is so last year - all the cool people are baking these days

oh i did some swimming too but dont tell my friends - they will disown me
