I'm so very sorry to hear this news. It's been so long since I was here that I couldn't remember my password, but there's no way I could read but not post. Cathy was just such a warm, loving woman. My sincerest condolences to her family and many friends.

Hi ladies, a friend of mine is looking to buy or hire a wettie for an OW swim next year, but she is a larger lady, size 18 I believe.

Does anyone here wear a larger size themselves or know of anyone who does? What brands should she be looking at?

I should know this stuff....

Rather than swimming a distance, I'd recommend taking more of an intervals type approach.

How about looking somewhere like Zoggs Swim4fitness (free to register and you get a series of swim sessions tailored to your goal).

First things first, though, be sure your technique is good - swimming's not like other sports, in that you can't get away with dodgy technique! (At best you'll find it much much harder work than it should be, at worst you'll end up with an injury)

Race organisers, tell me about chip timing systems

Posted: 05/10/2010 at 11:28
Hi all

I've been asked by a local charity to help them look into chip timing for their popular annual 10K. I don't know where to start! Can anyone help?

- how expensive are chip timing systems to hire and use?
- do you need a certain amount of runners to make it a viable expense?
- in your experience, has chip timing attracted a greater amount of numbers than clock timing?
- where would they get the system from?

Anything else I can pass on as advice?

Thank you!

Hi all, great race (but windy!) - PB for me of 1:45:30 (old PB was 1:47:55) and we think I was 15th lady Am well chuffed but in more post-run pain than I've been in a while. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves.
