Bro: marathons are grossly overrated , stick to the short stuff for 12 months and your speed will come.

2old: that's a lot quicker than I run these days, x training is the way forward as we get older

Barry: speedy stuff, it's Outlaw Hookham in July that I'm doing

?? M went pretty well as expected 1-47-17, I have lost a minute each year for the past 3 years! Horrible course with 850' feet of climbing, every year I say I won't do it again! TBH I'm happy enough with that as no longer train seriously.

Ran 5 quickish yesterday and cycled 35 today with over 1000M of climbing, it was cold.

Chick: sounds as if you had a great holiday, dont stress about your marathons, there is plenty of time and you know what its all about, you might just surprise yourself by not having trained so hard.

AA: hope you have kicked the CNBA fairy into touch, hard to motivate yourself on a day like today though!

Ticking along here, actually I guess a bit more than ticking, this week has seen 100 miles of cycling, 3 miles of swimming and 30 miles of running, but there has not been much quality in there bar Thursday club fartlek session. Tomorrow is Blackmore Vale 1/2M. Its a horrible course hated equally by myself and O4S, anything under 1-50 will be a triumph given the total lack of quality in my training.

Freemers: good to see you, its hard when you have achieved more than you ever imagined, have had the same problem since 2011! 

AA: good to see you to, good luck with dropping intervals, personally I beleive in them but were all different.

Barry: I know more than one who has a IM tattoo despite doing a non IM branded 226, its a personal call. 

2Old: niggles are a fact of life when you get old. Keep ticking over the day will come when we cant.

Ticking over myself, swimming going well, cycling when not too wet, Stonehenge Stomp today, 20 miles of ankle sucking mud, legs cooked now

Another week of steady training for me, 70 miles on the bike, 30 miles run, 2.5 miles swum. 17 miles today at four hour mara pace, its taken me three hours to warm up!

2Old: Swim club sounds painful, i can only swim free style! No kiing planned, no snow!

Have been plodding along, though no swimming since before Xmas as pool hardly open over festivities, will get back there on Tuesday. Managed 40 miles running and 80 cycling this week though, including a good club speed session when I felt as if I was running well for the first time in ages (maybe my dry January will do some good!), 16 miles slow today and a killer hills ride on Friday.

2old: some good running there for a crock. I found a chiropractor great for back problems not so good for evrything else.

Nell: sounds as if your busy, speedy running there.

training a bit hit and miss this week thanks to QC, but had my hour in court on wednesday so all quiet now. Christmas cracker speed session with club last night ended up in the faster of the middle groups so had to work hard doing crocodiles, Paarlauf etc. 45 miles on the bike today in the grey but hey ho it as warm. Run tomorrow or maybe swim

2Old: impressive mileage for a crock

Chick: banging the miles as out as ever, sometime though CNBA is THE answer.

Monday cycled 40 miles, Tuesday swam 2 K ran 4 miles, Wednesday Cycled 40 Miles, Thursday Ran 13 miles ( had forgotten how hard it is to run the day after a longish hilly cycle, Friday feeling shite so nowt, Saturday ran 6 at a tempo and yesterday trotted 4 cos still not 100%. Today probably a run latter if the Queens counsel who keeps hassling me for and more marine opinions ever stops emailing and calling. Niggle 95% better, still reminds me if I go mad.

O4S: Sad news for you & BA though the ravages of time will catch up with all of us.

I'm 7 years your junior and can feel somethings which were a breeze 3 years ago becoming a struggle.... not giving in just yet though

Barry: 20 secs is Ok, 10sec better. Personally I would split 20 x 100 into two or three sets with a 1 or 2 minute real easy recovery between the sets. I find it easier to mix the distances up as a few 50's after 4 x 150M feels real easy.  Have you tried a pyramid ? 1 x50, 1 x100, 1 x150, 1 x 200, 1 x 300, 1 x400, 1 x 300, 1 x 200, 1 x 150, 1 x 100, 1 x 50... makes for a good 2K set.

Did the club internal 5 mile hill race in 39-12 on Thursday.. happy enough with that given the ongoing injury / niggle problems and lack of decent run training, cycled Friday, 5 mile run Sat, 12 Mile run Sun.... not sure about today.
