You need to run off the bike as soon as you can.... have your run shoes ready, dump your bike in the house, change shoes and go. That way you will experience, and get used, to the jelly leg feeling. If you hang around for 15 minutes there isnt much point. Even a short run after the bike will help. Most of my brick runs (run from bike) were only 15mins long in the lead up to my first half irondistance.
Also, really spin your legs out on the bike in the last mile to get ready for running. I cant give you much advice for run to bike as I have never done a duathlon. Im sure there are plenty here who can though. And if they give different advice for the bike to run brick, listen to them, i dont know much!!
