Training for a shorter Tri

Rpitchfo - rest!!!!!!! Please. If you were trying hard and finding the run difficult then there is a reason. Also sounds like you stepped the pace up! The only thing you can do between now and the 10k is too much! You won't lose any fitness between now and the. But you can make yourself tired. Good luck

Evening all - been mental at work so not as much training as I would like. Also been feeling really down since my standard tri at end of September - can't believe I have to wait for so long for next tri event. Is this normsl? Any suggestions - got bath half booked up but it isn't the same.

runbbishe swim today - couldn't get to threshold pace for 50 m let alone for 200s! Ru. On Friday was fun though - 10.6 at just below 9s and felts comfy - weird

planning on first HIM in 2016.- can anyone suggest a good (flatter) one and an appropriate training plan?

Hope everyone is well! X

Well done rpitchfo the first 5k are the worst.

well done on the no smoking - I don't think about it at all at  now. Apart from to think 'that stinks' when I run past people and  'I can't believe I used to smoke' - the running will really help!

try to break the habits by not recreating he environments where you used to smoke and give yourself a prize for every week/ month you don 't smoke. A nice foodie treat for a week and a piece of kit for a month. If I get a pb I give myself a prize!

Mrs D - what's wrong?!

Well done steady - so long as we are out there.

I've just got my VLM rejection so can focus on winter tri training - hopefully a middle distance sometime

Blimey - we are all in the wars.

no swim for me today, back still sore and so run down that the inside of my mouth has started falling to bits literally. V sore!

the cue folks is to remember that rest is just as important as training and nutrition. Fluids and an early night for all please!

Mrs D - I only run so I can eat cookies! Trouble is I run 3miles, burn off 300 Kcal then eat about 800 ... Now Mathschick I know there is a small problem in my maths isnt there?! Avoiding scales since my gain of 1/2 stone during this marathon campaign grrrr

Razor - I'm just back from the osteopath-  I had a similar problem develop last Thursday after 8 mile run. Hot water bottles, gentle but frequent stretching and ibuprofen as a start. Have you got someone sports injury/osteopath you could see. Unless you hav a very sport understanding doc I often find I'm just told to rest. Luckily new doc at the practice is a cyclist so pretty understanding.

im resting today after pb at parkrun sat and 18.5 hideous miles yesterday. How the hell I'm going to manage 26.2 I have no Idea! Less than 6 weeks to go!

ooo where's the swim author? how far? Very exciting!!!!
