ITBS (illitorial Band Syndrome) - Injury

Posted: 14/12/2012 at 13:15

Can this sometimes be more in the hip area? For a month I've been getting pain on my left hand side, a sharp pain when planting my foot after 2/3miles and then an aching like a dead leg the day after.  Tried rest for 3 weeks but made no difference.  Sports therapist said I had TFL trigger point which he released.  Foam roller is out daily, think it might be shifting slowly.  I too have VLM in April and my mileage has gone to pot due to this......

Great thanks. Daft as it sounds I now have symptoms of shingles but without any skin rash.  Doctor says it could be some injury related neuralgia but I'm feeling this on my right side.  Any chance of the two being connected?

In my left hip area, across the front into the groin area.  Feels like a sharp pain when running on it and then a dull, dead leg feeling after.

Hi I've been getting pain in my left hip when running.  It only started recently and only when I plant my foot.  I've had some therapy on a trigger point in my TFL, it only starts to hurt 2/3 miles into a run.  Any ideas?

Hi Carly I got through to Phillippa on this email address.  They are making the list and will set places in the new year.  I got jittery and booked a hotel!

Hi all, got my final half marathon of the year on Sunday, then one 10k race mid-November and then I'm good to go - full on training mode.  Has anyone got any pre-London races planned? I'll be doing the Brass Monkey Half in York and the Silverstone Half.

I'm looking forward to this, not heard anyone have a bad word to say about it.

Thanks Dave and LRR, I had a look at the trains times and didn't want to risk it to be honest. Would be coming from Letchworth or Stevenage and it does look a bit tight. Found a room at Docklands that was reasonably priced so that'll take a bit of worry out of it!

Help required please, didn't expect to get a ballot place so totally underprepared.  I was planning on staying in Hertfordshire the night before and getting a train in on the morning.  Is this even feasible does anyone know?

Or am I better trying to find a hotel room nearer the start?

The thought of having to travel back on the train after doesn't fill me with joy but I'm travelling alone so not sure what the best thing to do is?

Thanks in advance

I'm a regular runner, have only been running 18 months though.  I always wanted to run the London Marathon but through my teens I ballooned in weight and thought I never would.  Now a considerably lighter 30-something I think it's fate that I've got a place when I'm probably the fittest I ever have been.  I've got my 3rd half marathon at the end of the month and will kick on from there with the long runs.

If I decide to go the charity route I'm going to go small or local, there are plenty of people who run for the big charities.
