Who's running this? I signed up but have managed to injure my knee today, if the swelling is too bad to run I'll have a spare place for the 8.2 mile distance (F, 27 years). I have my number in hand and flatmate is running it, so could pass it on. Entry is now closed so I thought it worth seeing if anyone's after a place. Entry cost £27.50, happy to take £20.

Hiya, I'm in for this year! Trail shoes haven't had much action yet so should be a good introduction!

Dublin Marathon 2013

Hi guys,

I went quiet in the build up as I wasn't sure I would run... but I did and improved on my first marathon time by 11 minutes!! 4:23:57 and over the moon. I absolutely loved it. I think due to lack of expectation and pressure I enjoyed it more than London.... very lucky with the weather too. I'll be telling friends to do Dublin!

Good running shea, sausage, clumsy!!!! I seem to have recovered from some IT band and shin splint problems, at the cost of 4 weeks of long runs. Yesterday would have been 20 miles, but I managed 17.3 miles with a bit of walking. Jim Holmes good point but no it wasn't my shoes, they are relatively new and the same shoe as I previously wore without any trouble. I think I'd been trying to cram in too much mileage in the week... Running twice a day a few times, which I've never done before.

For my first marathon I rarely hit the weekly mileage of my training plan but always did the long run. Wish I'd just stuck to that strategy now. I'm running the Royal Parks half on Sunday, I'll try for 16 miles solid on the 11th, and have a 10 mile race on the 20th. Hope that'll be enough to get me round. I just really don't want my second marathon time to be slower than my first!!! :S

I too loved this event. Running the half I did find the spacing of the water tables odd. Lucozade a couple of miles in, and then I was desperate for a drink station for much of the middle of the race. I also had to guide a sizeable group of runners that had headed for Mortlake Road from the station, and were frantically checking their phones to work out how to get to Victoria gate. So a sign at the station pointing runners the right direction would have been helpful. But it was very enjoyable and I hope becomes a regular fixture.
