I got rejected. I think Ned Boulting had a word with the organisers after I crushed him as FF says.

I think its quite fast, especially if you can get in with a group and ride a decent train. They seemed to form and break up as the day went along.

I'd like to have gone sub 5 this year. I think OC was 4.30 or something.

Was just thinking, as many cyclists as possible should all head down there on 20th July, the day when the triathlon should have been and have a nice bike around the course. No racing, in fact the slower and more leisurely the better to appreciate how lucky we are to have such lovely areas to cycle in. 2 abreast is often safest I'm told, on the wider roads. 

Some people might prefer to cycle the route in reverse, again enjoying the view. I'm sure the locals would appreciate us sharing their lovely part of the world for a few hours on a weekend.

I use Chamois buttr but if you've got something that works, stick with it.

Cheers guys, some good stuff in there, and over 10 posts without it going off track! 

Have already been googling your club meet times HC, I mentioned it to Alan when in last week, so hoping they can help. I think the fact that others are training will be a help.

Lunchtime swimming is a possibility, as is a run I guess once in a while. I work long enough hours for them to be pretty relaxed as long as you get the work done if I'm flexible here and there.

I think organisation and motivation are going to be key to making the change....

So I've always done my training before breakfast, just set the clock early, get the kit ready the night before, then get up and get on with it. I would take a swig of OJ just to get the overnight taste out of my mouth then on with it, then have breakfast after. 

But for various life change reasons (mainly work to be fair), that's proving harder and harder to do these days so I think I will need to shift my training during the week to evenings. 

Any suggestions on how to make that work best? I am worried that I will be knackered / hungry etc. when I get home and be even less inclined to train, especially swim. How do you manage that? Snacks before leaving work? Train before you get home? Any tips/tricks much appreciated.

Stomach threatened a load of trouble on the way home but fortunately failed to deliver. All good in the hood, an excellent evening, and learned a few things (about Boris bikes for starters!!)
