And hello to Red Stripe and Wabby in particular, lovely to meet you both and a huge well done, top racing!  Wabby I saw you finish but then couldn't find you to congratulate you in person.

Massive congratulations to all the proper athletes on Sunday who did the entire course, a couple of laps of the run course nearly killed me!

Hello to everyone I met and apologies for not talking longer, I had my "support" crew (aka the rest of the relay team) hurling abuse at me if they thought I spent even one minute not in absolute agony.  I love them really.

Anthony, at 400m in Outlaw 2012 (my first IM) I had a complete meltdown and was treading water for about 3 minutes before I could talk myself into carrying on.  All the cool kids do it.  I would like to say I have improved since but that would be a bare faced lie.  My Sunday highlight was that I didn't have to get in that lake (thanks there to my sister!).

Absolutely great race though, it deserves its reputation though, as my relay partner commented at registration "even the swim is hilly".  Might even man up to try the whole thing next year...maybe...

Hello all!

I am an ultra thread newbie and can usually be seen (intermittently I accept!) over on the triathlon forum.

I am only a pretend triathlete and a runner at heart so coming back to my roots and my first multi day ultra is Ring of Fire in August.

Is anyone else signed up? Have any veterans got any pearls of wisdom or top tips?  All gratefully received!

P.s. any pirates lurking and searching for ironman traitors I will deny all knowledge of this post!

Yeah...I'm still too much of a newbie myself to give the most important advice!

Start at the back of the swim if you're nervous, ignore your legs, write mantras on your hands/legs/bottles, put flipflops and baby wipes in your post race bag, eat pizza (not necessarily in that order!)

I hope you have an brilliant time, I'll be there Sunday - wimping out with just the run leg of the relay this year.

Arrived in the work post this morning, they are all very impressed and jealous. I am working on a legal network of pirates for 2015! Thank you so much.

If there is still spare room on the list for a (very) latecomer I would love a buff too please!  £20 (ish) fabulous.
