Paracetamol before marathon

Posted: 20/12/2013 at 15:14

Ibuprofen takes a couple of hours to work properly but lasts (I believe for 6-8 hours) Parecetamol starts to work in 20 minutes or so and will last up to 4 hours.

Not 100% sure these time are accurate when excercising. I believe there is a tablet available now that contains both. The idea is I suppose that you get the pain relief from paracetamol initially and by the time that's worn off the Ibuprofen has kicked in.

Do not take Ibuprofen or the  mix on an empty stomach. I made this mistake for a good few years and now get terrible heartburn quite a lot. In fairness that maybe coincidental but the warnings are to take with food as it can upset the gastric system

connecting a garmin to an iPad ?

Posted: 04/09/2013 at 12:48

I tried connecting something to an ipad (can't remember what) and it came up with the fact that the ipad didn't have sufficient power to run the device. You will need a program for your Garmin to work anyway so would be useful to see if that works on the ipad.

Let's bomb Syria!

I'd like to see proof I'm afraid. It's not that I necessarily believe that chemicals haven't been used it's just the footage doesn't convince me. We live in a digital media age and most propaganda comes through that channel but we also know that it can be easily manipulated

right to do what?

All the criticism was levelled at what Isimbayeva said and none at the athletes who painted their nails why does anybody think that is?

By painting their nails those athletes should have expected criticism.

At the end of the day by her criticism of them Isinbayeva brought the topic into the public eye. Maybe she doesn't believe what she said and it was her way of increasing publicity. After all she could hardly come out in support coming from where she does.

I love a good conspiracy theory me

There's still no proof that chemical weapons have been used and I for one (and possibly in a minority of one) think that some of the footage we've seen looks somewhat contrived.

I do wonder, howwever, why UN inspectors weren't allowed in the area for five days. Let's hope that modern forensics can discover the truth. Trouble is vif results come back negative there are those that will say that the results are due to the delay.

The whole thing tends to remind me of the WMD screw up though

Which compact digital camera to buy?

Posted: 25/06/2013 at 12:23

Olympus XZ-1 is great and has an aperture of F1.8 at the widest setting so probably the fastest lens on a compact.

There's a XZ-2 around now so check that as well

On the other hand you could get an Olympus PEN series camera which are bigger but also have interchangeable lenses.

Just to show I'm not all Olympus I do have a Fuji X-100 as well

We know we are doing O.K. when we get criticised by SR

This weekend I flew a kite!

I bought a rather nice kite from kiteworld and have flown it a few times. Decided I had to spend a bit on one as the £4.99 for 3+ years invariably fooled me and I couldn't get the things off the ground
