Roth advice

Posted: 16/08/2014 at 13:00
Hello all, Back again as on the scrounge for knowledge. Me and a mate were lucky enough to get a place in Challenge Roth. Just wondering if anyone who had done it before had any tips? Thinking about flights, where to stay etc. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Chris

Hello all,

Just in a bit of a rut. Did my my first Iron distance at the outlaw 2013 (inc. awesome pirate feed station!) and loved it. Did the 30 week plan so properly geared for it and really enjoyed the whole thing.

But since then I have done basically bugger all, struggled to get out the door for runs and rides and generally a bit down in the dumps. Anyone else had simliar issues? Any suggestions (other than HTFU!!) ?

Had planned on the half IM at wimbleball but by the time I had thought it would be a good idea entries had closed!

Lab based heart rate/lactate testing

After talking to a much better triathlete he was talking about how useful formal heart rate/lactate testing was. Has anyone done it? Is it worth it for the less good amongst us (aiming for sub 12 now). Also where can you get it done? I am in the Salisbury area.

Any advice gratefully received,

I did it. 12:51

thank you all the pirates, especially the guy at the end of the feed station offering pints of Guinness!

I also wanted to say a massive thank you to the pirates, you were the people that many years ago convinced me that "normal" ( it's all relative) people could do ironmans. After lurking in here you sewed the seed that led to the outlaw. Without you lot I would be much richer, with healthier knees but less of a person.

It sounds daft but having an environment where you can ask mental questions like "what happens when you need a poo" really helped. Cheers everyone

Tried the search but it just pulls up loads of running newbie questions, is there a way to put limits on the search?

Seren - both if possible but mainly ride

Another question that I reckon I already know the answer to! Can you load spectators up with food, gels etc at the outlaw so can get some grub when you see them, or does this count as outside assistance? (reckon it probably does!)

Also roughly how frequent are aid stations at the outlaw?

Thanks again

Wetsuit help

I'm back and after more help. Previously brought my wetsuit - a blueseventy fusion from sportpursuit but I am not sure I brought the right size. It was VERY tight, i walked a bit like a penguin and the shoulder split after only 1 season.

I am a god awful swimmer and was quite tempted by the HUUB suits (i am a sucker for advertising!) Just wondering what brands/shops etc people suggest. I reckon I need to try them on because I know they are supposed to be tight, but I am not sure they are supposed to be THAT tight!

Thanks for any help
