surely this depends on what you are upping your mileage to. when i go from 1 to 1 1/2 miles i stick to that relatively cheap tap water,

chocolate milkshakes can be such a treat with a banana blended in though, something to look forward to when digging deep.

Yes go for it, start with something like C25K programme, search google, then gradually increase into a marathon programme, but start today. tomorrow never comes!

If i remember right anything over 4 hrs puts you at the back, there is a staggered start, the rear pen xing the start line about 20/25 min after the start gun. however this means the course is quite open all the way round. much of the course is on far wider road than london so not too much of a bottleneck that i can recall.

Start first thing in morning with large glass of water( 1 pint/ 1/2 litre) then continually take on board water all day in small regular amounts and if you feel thirsty it is far too late so you should have had more by then. 2 litres a minimum and then dont include tea cofffee or any other drinks they are just bonuses.

I'm in, 2nd time, hot tea, well warm with honey was lovely at the drinks stations, fruit as well.

Stayed in outskirts and got bus and train in, typical german organisation, brilliant.

eat a jelly baby at each drink station, sometimes they do need washing down.

On the london marathon my Garmin 205 had me finishing on Birdcage walk, Docklands had confused it, however cardio trainer on my htc desire also regularly adds 10% to my distance wherever i run, but as someone said it plays music and talks to me which helps.
