I would say go for it. Your friends should support you for a charity that is so special to you...

Good luck.....;)

I ran it in 2003. Awesome experience, but v expensive. Is a tough one, paying so much. But I would go for it.
You also train during our summer which is more fun than training at the moment...;)
Good luck......

Hello there
Wondering if anyone can tell me a good source to obtain a photograph of the NY marathon.
I ran in the NY Marathon in 2003 and would love to secure a stunning photo of the race which I can display in my flat.
Anyone with any ideas that can help me.

Many thanks

Do many runners wear a rucksack when running to build up endurance??
Have seen more and more runners wearing one these days.
What do people put in them?? Spuds, tins of baked beans, kitchen sink...???
Wondering if I should give it a go. Probably start off with a couple of pillows and build up slowly...

What do u think....??

Best Charity to run for

Thanks for all the messages.
I do think the large charities do struggle to get the balance right in wanting to support their runners but not wanting to allocate large sums of money in providing that support.
When I asked the MS Society, who I ran for in NY, what support they were intending to offer me, I got a reply of a monthly newsletter and that was all.
I would love to choose a local, small charity to run for, and maybe raising up to £1,000, but they do not have a golden bond place.

Best Charity to run for

I am determined to run next year's marathon. I have applied in the ballot for the last two years and been unsuccessful (after being successful in 2004).
So should I miss out on the ballot again, I will approach a charity to run for them. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good charity to run for. I ran for the MS Society for the NY marathon in 2003 and to be honest, I was disappointed with the support I got from them. They were happy for me to raise thousands of pounds for them, but I had hardly any contact from them leading up to the event. Maybe I expecting too much from the charities. It would just be nice to be appreicated and have a support network to rely on at times.
Any ideas...??
