Well done guys.

---------

10 x 400m with 200m recoveries done and I did try to run slowly through the recovery rather than walking.  The result was much closer to my 5k pace, however I was still about 10 sec's quicker.

The results have been posted for Meon Valley Express and I think next year I may try the 5k.  I was about 20th lady home out of all age groups and 37th overall from 77 finishers.  I was shocked to see that with my current 5k time if that was replicated in the race I would have been 3rd overall!  I know there's a free 5k each Saturday but would love another 5k medal as it's been a good few years since I've collected one.

Well done guys.

Cal,

Good luck.

Stuart,

3-4 miles a week is better than nothing and a lot more than some people do.

Well done guys & thanks.

Tek,

Sounds like a good idea.

OH,

Don't worry.  I've probably missed things totally previously which I should have really commented on.

Ollie,

I think it's 16 October or thereabouts.  It's Denmead 10k which is an undulating course with a killer hill in it so don't think a pb is going to happen.  I think I may wait until yesterday's race comes around again next year.

Well done guys & thanks.

Ollie,

I did question my very slow approach to getting me back into running earlier on in the year.  Looks like it's paid off.  I'm not expecting to match or beat this time on my next 10k as it's a much tougher course.

Well done guys.

OH,

Well done.  Sounds like the warmer weather has reached you guys.  It was a bit on the cool side down here.

Ollie,

Well done - awesome result.

-------------

My race had an interesting start.  After not receiving a number and me thinking it was collect on the day I stumbled on their Facebook page which said either collect the day before at the race HQ or collect in the evening from the organiser's house.  So given that it was just gone 6pm it had to be from the house which was about 30 min drive away.  We got lost in Wickham and the signs for the race were only within about 50m of the start, however I'd allowed plenty of time so we were fine.  We did have a warning of a muddy and narrow patch at the start which everyone near me stopped and walked through.  The rest of the race was more or else straight forwards apart from encountering a rider who had to get off her horse as the runners were spooking it.  With how my training has been going I thought I could manage a 62 min 10k possibly a bit quicker however the bottle neck at the start threw me off my stride a bit.  Mile splits 10:25, 9:36.6, 10:04, 10:02, 9:41.9, 9:58.5 and 1:53.1 for the last .2.  (Ave pace 9:57 min miles and a new pb by 3 min and 12 seconds.)  Unusually the time recorded on my Garmin was exactly race distance.  I think this race is going to be on the list for next year particularly if I'm still in this kind of shape as I left I could have gone a bit quicker especially at the end.
