One thing you wish you knew before you started running?

Never gets mentioned during the London Marathon coverage, despite Paula's pitstop a few years ago.

I wish I had known that it could be such a good laxative! Could have avoided some close calls or pit stops.

Have you ever been last in an event?

I did come last in a fell race but I slipped on the descent and had really bad cramp. Limped on feeling that I had a huge bruise on my calf. However, there were 2 DNF and a DQ.

Is anyone travelling from Cheltenham for this because I'm looking for a lift. I was entered for the Cotswold Race the Train but that's been cancelled due to lack of entries. I can change my train tickets but not get a refund. I don't want to waste them so I thought this would be a good alternative.

Results a bit slow. Before the bus left for the journey back to Newcastle, we were told they'd be up Sunday evening. Just a bit curious about how many ran and my position.

Very impressed although I did see more signs for drinks than actual drink stations. Excellent work by the marshals especially at those tricky right turns. Slower time than I had hoped for but my right leg went wobbly at 19 miles but pleased to pick it up again. Seeing Bamburgh Castle really helped, what a magnificent setting to finish a race!

If the weather is as bad as the forecast I've just seen, I wonder if any races will go ahead this weekend. Gale force winds and torrential rain across the country!

Night time marathon - what to eat and when

I am intrigued by the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromso. I'm just wondering about eating on the day when the race doesn't start until the evening. For short evening races, I get away with coffee and a sticky bun late in the afternoon but that won't get me through 26 miles. Any advice about eating strategies?

Came across this one too late. It would have been nice to run around some of my old training routes. Will have to add it to next years "to do" list.

Manchester will be much easier and the weather can't be that bad 2 years in a row...can it?
