Thank you very much Runbikecat, DS and Malcs for the advice...so some more questions (sorry).

Malcs your runs on your plan at 8.30, is that your 'easy' pace?

DS, I've been looking on a few training pace calculators. I come unstuck because my 10k pace and my half pace are similar, (in fact my 5k isn't much faster) Getting my legs to work faster just doesn't happen!!! Should I be taking longer strides or turning the legs over quicker? Based on my half marathon time I should have much quicker 5 and 10k  but I have now given myself a few paces to try and work with! I will post back my progress!

Do you think early July will be too soon to test run a 10k?

May treat myself to a nice long run this weekend though, back-pack and a picnic, maybe a joes icecream down mumbles!  'Just in case' like Sean says!

Tried some speed intervals yesterday..thought I was going to die! My ultra legs need a make over!!

wow thats an impressive list of races above! I have to admit to having nothing booked other than TR24  

Yep, a big thumbs up from me for weights  I weight train twice a week, and do basic olympic deadlifts, power cleans, push press, military press,pull downs, front and back squats, some core work, and working towards doing a pull up! I work with a PT who is really supportive of my running, and although I'm not a speedy runner, I do believe my injury free state is testament to the strength work. (Runbikecat, I think it helps when the PT is cute aswell!!)

So how do I 'pace down' your 10k plan Malcs? I have no idea what paces to set to try and improve my times. Help anyone please? I tried a few speed intervals yesterday and thought I was going to die!

Ok, daughters wedding over so I'm back on a plan. Was going to target 10k... but I'm not joining you with Steves plan!  

Wimp Shady, fancy letting a bit of rain stop you!

Nice move joining a club James. It was the best thing I ever did. It can make some long training miles pass very quickly.

 Back to serious training this week! Had the weekend off for my daughters wedding, and have only done a few fun runs since London.

yes Stan, I definately think recovery is quicker because of my Ultra training. Doing all the long back to back runs helped. I 'could' have gone out the day running the day after london, I had no significant aches or pains, but I decided to give my body a good rest. I can remember being very stiff after my first marathon though.

Hi Mr Puffy! I just visited Malcs thread, but ducked back here quickly as they are talking 40min 10k !!!  My hope for TR24 will be to knock them out in an hour or so!! What are your next plans Mr P? You got anything planned Stan?

Did my first post race run yesterday. Just a little joggette along the beach. Everything still works ok

Such a perfect running morning yesterday. Clear blue sky and no wind...just asking for an easy 4 miles!

So... TR24. How much is the course 'trail'? do me and my head torch need to go off road?

Haha Stan... yes number 5 is definately true!!

My next target is the TR24 in July. I'm in a team, but hope to get quite a few laps in. I'm writing my training plan to try and build a bit of speed back into my legs, without losing endurance. I'm going to try training twice a day

I'm currently researching another Ultra!!!  But I am going mountain treking in Nepal for a month in November, I think that almost counts!!
