Derbyshire Running

Posted: Today at 07:54

Hi Adam. I'm on the other side of town from Chimney. Linacre Reservoirs offers some trails & you can public footpaths marked on OS maps to extend your runs. The Chesterfield Canal path goes out to Rother Valley Country Park. That's if you're okay with an out & back route. There's plenty of fields in the areas of Wingerworth & Holymoor side  but I suppose it depends where you'd like to start & finish.

Using shorter races as training runs

I don't enter many races, on or off road!

I do think this is a great suggestion though. Without any specific examples, I do think you submit a good deal of sense on here.

I look forward to seeing the views of others on this thread.

Thanks for the RR mention. I did consider it before the change from December. A lot of muddy fields plus some of the route sounds unappealing. I don't race much anyway so we'll see.

All the Best to you for the rest of the year.

Thanks Jim. I've done the Long Tour of Bradwell twice, and finished last both times (it's a bit short for me).

Ha! I know you're being serious it's just the irony of 8 hours or more being a short race. I thought I was last finisher last year after twisting my ankle at Leadmill Bridge and hobbling the last 5+ miles. One more guy came in after me though.

Is the HP40 a bit short too? Not sure about having the training to go much beyond that or maybe Ladybower.

Do you have any plans for the rest of the year?

I wondered because Jenn G spoke of you when we finished the Long Tour of Bradwell together In 2012.

I followed your progress in the Spine but wasn't sure if you we're the same person!

Congratulations for this major achievement.

Anne, I hope you don't mind me asking but are you from North Derbyshire?

#32 and #20 were air lifted to the finish.  Were they seriously injured?  I was worried about #20 stuck on that ridge last night, with everyone overtaking him and then left all alone.

I couldn't figure out why 20s flag didn't move!32 seemed stuck too so I wondered if there was a tracking problem. That was strange though as it had seemed to work so well all week.

Any ideas about the leader board times & positions? Surely some finishing touches to do there?

2 more finished & a night in hand. 'Well Done' to Robert Spalton & Anne Green. Anne is only the 2nd woman to finish this year's Spine race.

Amen to that comment! A major 'Well Done' to all concerned.

it seems strange to think nobody had started this time last week!

Cheers booktrunk. The tracking has me confused. I don't want anyone going wrong at this stage (or later).
