Weight loss name and shame (or congratulate!)

Posted: 19/06/2013 at 14:21

Hello All

Haven't been online here but just thought I'd show my virtual face.  Ongoing lower back problems mean running has been at a minimum, which peeves me off in a big way; also meaning that keeping off all the weight I lost in 2012 is a constant struggle.  I've mostly been hovering just under 170lbs, which I am "OK" with, but would ideally would like to get down well into the 150's again.

Hope you are all well.  Keep up the good work!

Great work Mr A

Sorry to hear you are under the weather Sam, be careful not to over do it, trust me, I know.

Doing a lot of core strength exercises as prescribed by physio and started some light running, basically leading my wife through C25K program. Looking forward to a time when my body is fully functioning again!

My weight is continuing to hold station, and Ive started some light running again. 1 week into C25K with the better half, she is hoping to complete an all run/jog 5k in April.

Well Done Words and Spen!  How did Toby get on?

I started my running outside, then tried using the treadmill when the weather was poor, and when I was working away.  I have to admit I can barely stand it.  There is so much missing as compared to being outside; fresh air, scenary, hills, wind, terrain, pace control.  Get outside and run!  Slowly increase you weekly mileage but don't overdo it pace-wise; 1 interval session a week is probably enough to start with, with the rest of your runs slow\easy pace.  There are plenty more experienced than I to advise mind you.  If you increase the mileage and don't change your current earing habits the weight should look after itself.

I'm making good progress with the physio, not quite ready for running, but at least able to start some swimming.  The good news is my weight has pretty much levelled off at 12 stone, 1 stone heavier than I was in October for Mara, but still nearly 2 stone lighter than I was 18 months ago.  Considering I haven't been able to do much traininng since the marathon for various reasons, and that my diet has been less than ideal, I'm pretty pleased that their hasn't been to much damage done on the scales.

Great photos Toby, fantastic progress.

*waves to everyone.

I hope you get good results Sam!

MM - I found the muscle soreness to be at it's worst on about day 3\4, after that I think they start getting used to the punishment.  Keep at it!

lol I was expecting a poat from you along these lines when I looked at the MAX workouts.  Fantastic that you have seen great results in the first 30 days, have you been able to keep it up?

Worst of the back pain and mobility issues have been sorted, but I only have permission to swim\cycle at the moment.  Don't know when or even if I will contemplate Insanity again.  I'll have to see how it goes.  Physio has me doing horrible hamstring stretches at the moment using door-frame, I fear them almost as much as I feared Insanity workouts!

Anything strenuous is on hold for the foreseeable, might be able to start swimming next week. Waiting to see what physio says.
