Yes its true - I got Burned off last night.
Firstly - congrats to BT. By the 8k point I had stopped looking behind me as I thought I had a lead of a couple of hundred metres. From 8 to 9k the course is quite twisty through quite dense scrubland and you can't really see more than 20m in front or behind you. Hence I was somewhat suprised to reach the 9k marker and find the bugger breathing down my neck. We ran together for the next 500m but then he got me on the descent to the finish.
Secondly - , in true Eric style, I'd like to take most of the credit. BT is clearly still benefiting from the spring marathon training programme I put together. Also, after his dismal performance at the Offerton 10k I gave him a few words of advice on race strategy which he has clearly benefitted from in the last 2 races.
It was a great race, the first 4k are uphill and fairly runnable. The next 4k are downhill and then it is 2k on twisty trails through the woods.
