Kent Roadrunner Marathon

Hi All,

I survived it (just).... running a marathon with no long run training isn't to be recommended, lol !! All went really well until 10miles, then I got a severe calf cramp and it set like concrete. After it released I set off, but could not run with any pace or back came the pain

I thought about pulling out after 8 laps, but I don't like being defeated, so I slowed right down. There were a few more bad spells with cramp before the end though, including the last lap when in sight of the finish line I was brought to a complete stop again (I think I may have roared my disgust and a few choice words - so sorry if anyone heard my outburst, haha) .... a special thanks to RFJ for asking if I was ok  on a few occasions as my legs packed up

That hill was a bit of a killer, in any case!! but TZ put on a great race, I almost collapsed when the huge chunk of bling was placed round my neck at the end!!

I have a feeling of not achieving what I wanted, so it gives me great pleasure to announce I'm already in for next year ..... and I would appreciate it if Ian and the tz team could take a steam roller and flatten out some of those hills (or provide a detour arround them in the latter laps!!!)

Hi Emmy, yes will let you know what I think of your singing, maybe if you're behind and it's so bad I might even get pushed on for a faster time??? lol (I'm sure this won't be the case )

This is the link I use, hopefully this works.....

Thanks LTS, I'm sure we'll muddle through, just hopefully the last few laps won't be too painful!!

I hope all this singing is going to be good and in tune! Don't like wearing ipods etc and I don't like the idea of having to wear earplugs either

Weather is looking good at the mo, low of 9/10C in the morning rising to about 17C (by which time we hopefully all finished) cloudy with sunny intervals and winds about 10mph. So not bad for June, my worst fears was 25C and windy!!!

Half way through packing now, just waiting for my Garmin to fully charge, then set off tomorrow afternoon.... not long now

Hi all, looking forward to this run with excitment and trepidation

I missed the closing date and entered via the wait list. I was really pleased to gain a place but only after I should have been on taper, lol. I had given up on entry and had switched to shorter stuff 5 & 10k, so haven't done much above 13.1miles since running a marathon in January, so hopefully I will be ok to half way, then it's fingers crossed time!!!

Yes I went the wrong way there too, was no-one in front and saw runners coming from even farther in the wrong direction, and I was leading a group of about 10 or 12 and we all went the wrong way, luckily a bit farther back someone knew where to go and corrected those behind, but obviously others went wrong later too, very confusing, my garmin recorded 13.3miles

Still, it was a great day, sunshine too, shame about the headwinds, seemed to be always running into it, lol

I think driving an ultra is the way forward C33 Not sure about getting the same shirt though - shocking, lol, .......I helped out at ironman uk and we all got tees, but they were different to the competitors, so i can wear with pride (except the fact it's the brightest of bright greens!!!)

You're welcome fer the maths Michael, it did take me ages to do it, cross referencing numbers from each race, theraputic I think they call it (or a sign of going mad?) .....I didn't include any of the wheelchairs or handbikes (sorry if you were 1 of those) but I think 45mins for a HM is a bit of a silly speed to be going and fastest marathon hand-bike was 1:35!! wow... well done, but not in my charts

Yes Dannirr a bit stupid, I suppose some may have had injury worries and didn't want to risk both races?? Like you say I would have thought they would have marked your number after the half or scanned your number after the marathon to check that you'd done both and earned that Goofy medal. Something for RunDisney to look into for the future I guess.

MM, I saw those presentation cases myself, I'm sure I looked at them in the expo, so you could have bought them before the races even started if you wished, lol!

I wouldn't have the unearned medal myself, I won't even wear the t-shirts before I've earned them, I wore a marathon 2012 shirt on HM morning and my half 2013 shirt on marathon morning As for doctoring the times on the photo?? what's that all about? some folk are strange!

Yeah you did good C33

I got you at 4:51:32, 202 HM, 227 FM and 56th Goofy (4th Goofy Brit - well done - fastest Goofy Brit was 4:36, so only 15 mins off fastest Brit!)

OMG Slowfoot, that sounds a bit harsh!!! It was baking hot.

I never realised there was a 10 1/2 hour time limit. I thought that as long as they completed each race without getting booted for being too slow, they would be ok, lol!

In that case there may have been only 8238 Goofy's

HaHaa looks like we've all been busy with the analysing!!

Just finishing a Goofy table myself, pretty complicated!

Here's my stats, I reckon 9224 Goofy numbers were used to finish a race, 526 recorded HM times but either failed to enter or complete the full, and more strangely 102 recorded a full marathon time, but either failed to enter or complete the half?? (I guess they entered the Goofy when the Full filled up - very expensive way to do it )

Soooo there were 8596 recorded finishers in the Goofy (but I did see some people trying to sell/give away parts of Goofy's they didn't want to do - so I suspect there may have been a couple of "relay" finishers amongst the finishers?)

Fastest Goofy, was 4:06:10 and slowest was 11:54:19
