Just a Little Bit Further - 2014

Posted: 16/08/2014 at 15:12

Afternoon all!

MC - Glad you are enjoying your holiday and the knees are holding up.

Franny - hope park run was fun and you managed a speedy time.

DJ - Glad to hear your cat is feeling a bit better. Hope you got out for a run yesterday or today.

Hi everybody else!

Well, I got up extra early so I could get a long run in before it got too hot and I managed 13.5 miles.  The longest run for me in a very long while. Then I took the kids to an open air pool for some fun in the sun. Five hours later we came home to a huge bunch of flowers from hubby as it's our 17th anniversary today (and to make up for no birthday present!). He's also taking me to the cinema tonight if we can find a good film, so I suppose he is forgiven. Just hope I can stay awake after my busy day.

Hope you are all having a nice weekend. It's bloomin hot here......

Morning all!

We have internet - yippee!

Chili - In spite of a boy being very interested in her last year, no real interest in boys from my daughter either. But, generally all that stuff happens later here (thank goodness).

MC - Sounds like a really active holiday. Better than sitting on a beach all day. Enjoy!

Franny - Enjoy your 10 miles!

Legs - Keep up the good work. Half marathons are a great distance, my favourite (although I haven't done one for a long time.)

Hi everybody else! Going swimming after work today.

Hi all!

For some reason we have no internet at home so this is just a quickie from work.

Legs - Welcome! Nice to have a new face/pair of legs on the thread. Are you  a guy or a gal?

DJ - Hope your cat feels better soon and you have the opportunity for a run today. Thanks for the tune!

MC - It's nice when the kids are kind to each other. Really want to see the holiday photos but my school blocks facebook so I'll have to wait until the internet is working at home.

Chili - Very well done on your 100th park run and Smidge's first 5Km. Great achievement for a little 'un!

Hi Franny, AF, Ecky and all!

Well I managed a 2 hour hilly but slow run before school yesterday. Longest run for a long time but I didn't take my garmin so I don't know how far it was. Legs were aching all day afterwards...... Back at school now for seminars, complete waste of time but it does improve my Turkish. Going to the fitness room this evening.

Have a good day all. xx

Morning all!

Get well soon to all those that are under the weather (pets included). Parents are here so I've been absent for a while.

DJ - well done on your BTEC success! You must have worked very hard. Well done on your longest run of the year too.  I remember and love today's song and will look up Paul Weller's cover.

AF - so sorry to hear about your friend.

I've done a couple of runs this week ( a lovely 6 miler on Tuesday  and a wet hilly 6 miler on Sunday)and went swimming yesterday.  Daughter is in Istanbul this week for the summer nationals and came third yesterday in the 100m backstroke! So 3rd in Turkey!  She is thrilled. First and second were a year older than her too as they are grouped in 2 year age bands.

Anyway, parents go home on Saturday and I'm back to school on Monday ( a whole month before students return which is crazy) The holiday has gone soooo fast. It would have been nice to get away somewhere but what with Ramazan and daughter's double training we couldn't manage it.

Is it still hot there? Parents have been suffering a bit here with the heat....

DJ - good luck with your photography business.I know you'll be successful as your pictures are gorgeous. Well done with your running too. I hope your wife's condition improves soon. Hopefully when the weather cools? It must be so worrying for you both.

AF - well done on all your miles in the heat. How hot is it there?

MC - lovely to get a new car. Enjoy it! Good luck for your swim on Sunday and well done on your training.

Franny - good to hear you had a lovely time away.

Hi to anybody lurking!

3 more days of fasting left..... Swimming tonight after the evening meal. Fitness room yesterday but felt very dehydrated and just managed a walk on the treadmill, some bike and some sit ups!! Hope I haven't lost too much fitness during the past month. (Have lost about about 6 pounds though, which is a bonus although I'll put it straight back on no doubt.) Very hot here too.

Oh well, bfn folks. xx

Hi all! Thanks for the birthday wishes guys. I had a very normal day but a lovely cake from sister in law and books sent from mum and dad. Hubby seemed to have forgotten...... which is fairly normal. May buy myself a present to make up for it!

Hope you are having a nice trip Franny!

Been a bit tired but trying to keep up with swimming and some visits to the fitness room. Looking forward to the end of Ramazan now.....and mum and dad are coming!!!

Hope you are all OK. xxx

Hi all!

Franny - Glad to hear you had a lovely holiday. Take it easy at work.

AF - Looking forward to hear about your race.....

MC - How many weeks left at school now? How's the exam marking going? Hope you have time for your training!

Well, hubby was picking nectarines again yesterday. I'm gonna help him next Sunday which will be the final picking when we pick all the ones remaining.  (I don't think he trusts me to pick just the ripe ones!!!) We have made a nice bit of pocket money this year.

Elif came back from Italy yesterday. She had a fantastic time.  The competition was just 100m races in all four strokes. She did the 100m freestyle and the 100m backstroke.  No medals, but for the 100m back she got into the final. If she had  swum her best she would have got a silver but it wasn't to be. She got a PB for the 100m free which she was pleased about as it's not her usual event. Anyway, back to training this evening for another competition this weekend.

I'm going to the fitness room later. Not too hot here (about 30C) but gonna wimp out and run in the ac fitness room.

Hope you are all well... where's chili?

MC - Good luck to little boy and I hope he copes with all the stress!

AF - well done on all your mileage. Sounds a great pace to me.

Well went to the fitness room yesterday and I'm swimming tonight. It was very busy on Tuesday (at least 40 swimmers at 10pm!).

Elif went off to Italy early this morning. She comes back late on Sunday, hopefully.

Morning all!

So quiet on here lately!

AF - Good luck for Sunday and well done on all your mileage. Enjoy the nice weather.

Fitness room on Monday and a swim after eating yesterday evening.  Fitness room again today and hopefully 30 minutes on the treadmill. Prefer to run outside but the ac makes it more bearable!

Elif is off to Milan tomorrow for a swimming competition, her first abroad.  She is very excited. Hope she has a good time and doesn't get too stressed which has been a bit of a problem for her recently...

Anyway, hope you are all having fun whatever you are up to!

BFN xxx

Well done MC! Sounds sensible to walk if knee was hurting. How was the weather? I've heard it's nice there at the moment.

Lainey - Hi! What are you up to? Still busy with lots of park runs etc?

Nice day here, little bit cloudy so cooler. Hubby and a couple of hired hands have picked lots of nectarines and pears. Hoping for a good price at the market....

Start swimming again next week. Two days 10-11pm which will be strange but nice, hopefully.
