GFA (Good for age): relates to age when you did the time or age on day of VLM?

Posted: 04/08/2015 at 00:05

Cheers Cougie for confirming the GFA qualification rule.  I ran the Liverpool marathon (2015) and so downloaded my results from the official page but I also checked the attachments before I sent it and could access it and see it so am not sure why they could not.  Am still waiting for a response from the help desk. Am glad you had a nice woman as mine put the phone down on me when I asked to speak to a manager

No they have said its not possible. It has been a mess from the start. They had a massive backlog for GFA and I phoned them twice to be told there was no problem it was just their delay. When I did finally speak to them on the third time they told me they had sent me a rejection email but none was received and that the deadline was over and there was nothing they could do. I have since emailed the help line three times but no one has got back to me so pretty fed up really

Hi my GFA was rejected for London 2016 due to them not being able to read my times. Can I reapply again next year or do I have to get a GFA in the year I apply for London?

Cheers Warkie yes I would include the taper within the seven miles so probably right will be about 14 and see how it goes from there. Good luck to your wife

Hi Warkie thanks for responding. My longest run was 22 and I had been feeling strong following a sub four hour training programme so implemented it with tempo and interval sessions and also some core stability work. I injured my sacroilliac joint during tapering week when making a bed!! Resulting in lack of mobility and struggling to walk let alone run.  Chiropractor said just freaky accident which could have happened anytime just a misfortune it happened in the week before the marathon.

Am seeing chiro again tomorrow and the pain seems to be subsiding somewhat so was thinking of trying to recup this week and then start next week which gives me 7 weeks to prepare for Liverpool. Just unsure as to where to start?

Hi was entered in the Manchester marathon until I became injured during the tapering week and had to pull out. Had been following the  manchester marathon discussion where lots of ideas and thoughts were shared and I can't seem to find another thread for the Liverpool Marathon is there one or shall we start one if not? My first question is did all the training became injured and now not sure where to start for Liverpool in June. Will it be week 7 of a 14 week programme??
