If you could go back in time, what would you tell your 10 year old self

Don't be so nice the first time you get the chance to lose your virginity, go for it, the person you do lose it with wont be quite as nice.

Learn to ride a bike sooner and learn to swim in open water, then go and do triathlons rather than marathons. You're knees will probably thank you more.

Delivery/Courier Companies

Our post woman was lovely, really friendly and went out of her way to ensure we received a parcel. She's no longer our postie unfortunately.

Haven't actually seen our new postie yet so can't say what they are like. We have had some lovely posties so hopefully they'll be the same.

Delivery/Courier Companies

We've had delivery person not turning up after we'd been informed that the would deliver between 9 and 5, rang up and got told that they probably didn't have enough time to deliver to us because they finished at 3.

Also had cards put through the door saying we were out and they tried to deliver. Did catch one person as they were walking back to the van.

Also had things delivered to completely the wrong address, fortunately the postman and woman that cover that address and ours had each other mobile numbers so when the woman that add our parcel gave it to her postman he rang our post woman and they met up and she brought our parcel even though it wasn't them delivering it.

Have also had parcels left by the side of the house.

Worst was when we had parcels thrown over the wall into our back garden.

Vampire or Werewolf?

Werewolf.

Only have to worry about changing a couple of days each month and get to enjoy the sunshine without bursting into flames. Plus the claws and teeth and ability to run on all fours would come in handy in a fight.

Do you time all your runs

I'm more interested in the miles I've covered than time. I do upload run information from my Garmin to Daily Mile and Map My Fitness but I don't tend to look at the information in a lot of detail.

What is more racist behaviour

I don't see why booking some place for a day for the exclusive use of a particular group of people to use should be a big deal. If the park want to do that then its is entirely within their rights. Just as long as that policy is applied equally for all groups that want to hire the place.

If it had been any other group of people I suspect there wouldn't have been any fuss. If a group of schools had booked Legoland for their exclusive use there wouldn't have been a fuss but because its booked for Muslims to use the far right start kicking and screaming.

Surprise endings...

A couple of television series season finales have us crying "Noooooooooooo!!!" Especially when we find that the series has then been cancelled.

Jacob's Ladder was a good one for a surprise ending. I've only watched it once as now I know the ending it spoils the rest.

What was your weakest leg of a Triathlon when you started?

Posted: 17/01/2014 at 12:33

Cycling is my weakest discipline. I've run since I was a teenager and have always been comfortable in water and could happily swim up and down a pool doing breast stroke.
You've got nearly 6 months to be able to swim that distance so if you're putting in the practice there's no reason that you can't achieve the distance, although you'd have to put in a few sessions of open water swimming as it is different to swimming in a pool, especially if you have to do the swim in a wetsuit. The first couple of races I did I really struggled with swimming in a wet suit and even ended up completing the swims doing front crawl.
Lessons will help you to get your technique right, after that its just a matter of putting in the time in the pool and building on the number of lengths you are able to do.

Accomodation at Outlaw

A number of us have also stayed at the Holiday Inn (the one in Castle Marina Retail Park, not the central Holiday Inn Express), it's nice and quiet, has a car park and is opposite Sainsburys so it's very handy for that.  There is a Premier Inn next door if you want to compare prices.

+1 for the Holiday Inn. We've stayed there when doing the Outlaw Half and the Nottingham Triathlon. I'd not have an evening meal in the hotel though as I found it a bit expensive for what you get. They also put on a room where people could store their bikes overnight which was useful.

How do you feel about this?

What she did was stupid and hopefully she'll learn something from the experience.

It would have been a crass thing to do even if it had just been done with nobody other than her friends and collegues seeing it. With social media uploading pictures like that is simply asking for trouble.

I do think that death threats, rape threats and the like are uncalled for but it seems that people are happy to make threats like that, from the anonymity and distance of the internet, which they wouldn't make in a face to face situation because the chances of them having a visit from the police to discuss their threats is very remote.

Making threats like that can be dangerous because you never know how the person that is on the receiving end of them might react. There's been a situation going on in the states recently where the youngster on the receiving end had to be put on suicide watch because of the threats that were being made against them.
