i took part last year and it was a little poor, we had to rack our bikes the day before and where given a time to turn up to do so when we got there the racking wasnt even ready and a large group of us spent 2 hours helping with the set up, im more than happy to do this but should really have been done in time.

also the man running transition was like a miny hitler with his manchester commonwealth games gear on he had me up the wall.

as for race day totaly different story everything was spot on and well organised also i think its a fantastic course. transistion is small tho and entering after your race while others are racing is almost impossible.

if you do race you get a list of parking which is cloased till long after the race and one which is a 30 min walk which stays open, my advice is come to the closet car park as it opens straight after the race even tho it says it doesnt they open up the back road so you can get through.

all in all great experience,

if your looking for others in the area there is liverpool, capethorne and in north wales take a  look at slateman and sandman also really good events

i agreed exciled,

i feel the open water makes it feel like a race, its makes it that bit special. a pool tri to me almost felt like i was just popping to the gym.

Would my swim improve in I had my legs amputated?

hey guys,

i done my first tri's last year i was 19.5 stone and nervouse as hell, but its well worth the training. i feel same as some that once you find a comfertable way to swim you could just keep swimming distances arnt really a problem, this season ill be hitting my 3km open water in training for next years races.

i put alot of work in on the bike but not covering great numbers of miles at the min but 30-40 is more than enough for what i need at the moment

and you clearly have the run boxed off any way but i think there is no feeling like trying to run after a swim and a bike so make sure you try put things together while training.

transition is also something you nee to think about haha the drama i had getting my wesuit off, i looked like shamu when he gets stuck on the side. plus theres millions of little sneaky pointers for helping you through each stage that if you look through the forums you find.

well thats me anyway lol

enjoy the season guys lol

Proof, if it was really needed, that wearing a helmet is essential

yeah i know a number of people who ride without helmets, i have a good mate in work who wears one all the time and came off his bike he still ended up in icu for 3 months like so would dread to think what the outcome may have been without it on,
