Yes, I was thinking that the wind could be a worry in Bournemouth - it's only on the list because logistically it's the easiest to get to!

Hi

I am currently researching which UK autumn marathon to book as my second ever marathon in 2014.

I am looking for a fairly flat road race.

I have narrowed it down to Abingdon, Chester, York or Bournemouth.

Which of these would you overall recommend? Do you have any good or bad comments about any of them? Given the choice, which one would you do?

Thanks!

Wow - that was a tough one for my first - I'm definitely picking a nice dry, non muddy, non windy tarmac one for my second! At least I have set myself a nice low time to beat for a PB!

Well done everyone!

I keep checking the weather forecast every five minutes to see if they've decided that it is going to be less windy on Sunday - it's years since I've done a run in a 'healthy' sea 'breeze'...!

I hope there is a bag drop - it says there is on the website, but it hasn't been mentioned in any of the emails...

Last easy 10 miler for me today - now just taking it easy with a couple of short runs in the week.

And fingers crossed for the weather - currently looks like wind and rain - ugh. So I think I'll be wearing long legs, long sleeved base layer with vest over the top and a fleecy headband - I get too hot in gloves and hats.

I share your pain - my training has been interrupted by illness, holiday, heel pain....hoping to get a solid 20 miles in on Sat which will hopefully make me feel more optimistic about finishing!

Thanks for the update on the course Dutch - it's sounding good!

Help with Trail Shoes

I also run in Saucony Omni 11s on the road - I have Salomon Speedcross 3s for my trail shoes. I haven't used the trail shoes extensively as yet, but have covered some dry trails, mud and grass with them over 5-15 miles and haven't had any problems with them.

I've received my email too - but does anyone know if there is a place to leave bags at the start/finish?

I'm going with road shoes - looks like way too much tarmac for trail shoes to be comfortable over that distance

Is anyone thinking of doing this event? Has anyone done it before?

Half marathons 6 weeks apart

Is this possible/sensible?
