MC, hope you pick up , this weather doesn't help any of us does it? we need sun sun sun !!!!!
well I did a very windy and mega muddy trail training run for 13/14 miles last Saturday on the Ridgeway-oh my goodness me , between nearly getting blown away ( good job I had bottles of water in my pack to hold me down)and sliding like bambi on ice in every bit of mud I had a really excellent time! blue skies n sun and high up on the ridge was so good to be up there few runners out but mostly walkers with very sensible trekking poles. ( I will be needing these for perhaps my abroad ultra)
As I continued to slide and nearly end up on my bum I looked rather enviously at the 'pole people' as I tagged them that day and wished id had the sense to get some and try them out up there. ! in the meantime I scampered off like a dog and found a nice big stick to pretend I was a proper trail ultra runner like Kilian and Emilie ....yes ahem, was aiding my balance nicely skipping along..
