First Running Watch - needs to work near high rise buildings...

Posted: 10/04/2014 at 06:40

the issues with highrises are less about the watch and more GPS technology itself. I would suggest getting one that automatically connects to a footpod when it loses GPS signal,

I know a number of Garmins do this, just a case of finding one within your budget i guess.

2014 Running Goals

Posted: 16/03/2014 at 07:26

after breaking my half and full marathon goals last year, this year i'm going to take on the shorter races at a higher speed. current 10k pb is 45:08, and would like to go sub 45, should be easy since im doing training run 10k's in the late 45's/early 46's

other than that, im living in the states now so i have a whole list of new races to enjoy, living in San Francisco makes training interesting for sure, the hills...omg the hills, its like road fell running in places. love it.

Garmin 305 Ascent / Descent figures

numbers are usually a bit random but the elevation graph always looks the same on repeated runs, and always the same as the official race maps. but they may also be generating them using a garmin.

Over thinking running

i agree with both of you, a lot of people like the geeky side of things, especially with all the gadgets and toys etc.
But i also think it intimidates a lot of people who dont end up starting because running no longer becomes a case of just putting one foot in front of the other a bit quicker,

Things you should have known at that start

agree with not going out at race pace, and like wise not running as far as you can every time,

made a huge difference to my running once i slowed down and did smaller faster runs combined with longer slow ones
