Susan well done on the run

Fido not sure what to say but no you will make right decision for you

Howard brilliant split s hope things improve

Nearly 3 weeks on and still resting couple of very gentle miles last week. Feet nearly recovered but back still a bit sore from the lean I assume. Onlt thing bothering me is putting weight on but just taking a whatever approach for now. Mojo is there but a saying it could also do with a rest!

Hello all

Back in the land of the living feet recovered and today managed 9 holes of golf so getting there. I had won a comp for a marathon next weekend but have decided to be sensible and let it go

FIDO Thanks once again. Not sure what your plans are Comrades wise but I have decided Im going back in 2017 for the up run. Feel I have unfinished business with the up but the down I cant better and waiting for FRC to take the record from me

Mile 1; 25 target time 5 hours. I started with a plan of 25/5 run walk to first aid station at 11 miles. Walking after 25 was hard and no one else wss but stepped to the side and did so. I reached the cp in about 2 hhours and grabbed some food and walked while I was eating. At the 18 mile point I was caught by someone I new who was aiming for sub 24 so concerned gone off to quick. Weather wss perfect so just carried on. At around 23 realised I wss pushing for 5 hours to slow so had a mile walk. Result felt better but reached 25 miles in 5.03

Right here we go.

THAMES PATH 100

since completing comrades I kept asking myself what next the reality was I had put some weight on and no longer wanted to chase pbs although staying under 4 still mattered so last year I did the quadzilla (4 marathons in 4 days) the best part was the evening s and a few were using it as training for 100. The seed was sold. Last year I completed 15 marathon s and so far this year 6 including a 50 mile training race.

I say the above to set the seen of what is needed to get to the start line.

So race day arrived following s lovely evening with Howard. My crew came to the start dropped my bags off and off to the start. I new a few from enigma events so nice to talk. I even had a plan so will post each quarter ad seperate post

The end imagine this standing at the start of a marathon no sleep for 24 hours both feet now with blisters and starting to feel sick. Well that was we. I NEEED to do s 9 marathon but really not sure I can. I have now read report s saying it was pouring down could not tell you but it must have been as now add slipping into the pot. I wss totally miserable had enough and wanted to stop. My pacer was brilliant I never said those words but he knew so kept me talking about all sorts of rubbish. When I got to the cp at 85 my garmin was showing 86.5 so had a good old moan which I regret now. Meeting FIDO at 90 gave me a lift she said I looked strong not true but appreciated but around that time I developed s lean. My last change of pacer was at 91 2 cp to go the next 4 miles were horrid so slippy and now my back was agony. Finally reached 95 and had 2 hour's left. I tried walking holding myself straight I tried using the fence. The onlu good news was still doing under 25 mm finally the path in oxford ans stumbling finished.

Medical attention needed on feet now infected. I should have been on top of the world but wasn't. Can't explain why. This had helped and sure it will come just the truth.

51-75 target time 18 hour's. I had been dreading this part but at least had company. Bad start got lost. The route is marked but had managed it somehow. Choice was work our way back or go across a field and hope the fence was not barbed wire. We went for 2nd choice and was normal fence so under we went. There was a cp at 58 up to this point everything at these had been great but suddenly it changed people collapsed in chairs emergency blanket s. The reality of how hard this was kicked in. One tip I had been given was beware the chair apart from 51 putting extra on I never did. I'm certain if I did would not have got to the end. This was also the only section with hills. Not nice but managed. By this stageI had given up ttrying to run. Now the rain really started
