Susan so proud of you

Went and watched more tired than running it. My super speedy niece was 6th in london and 19th overall in mini marathon so proud. Really intresting to see how the numbers built as time went so many sub 3!!!!!!!!

Well done martin. If I ever did 100 agaon abd I wont it would not be tp100 for exactly same reasons you say give me some hills!

Good luck martin.

Shedboy agree with all said. Running slower is going to help based on my experience I would try 8/2 2 minutes is long enough to recover HR but not to long to allow things to start seizing up or the adrenaline to stop. Biggest issue may be space to walk at the start so maybe run for furst hour slowly

But they feel like it, It was proper walking not power walking the key for me was getting my heart rate back to normal then it felt like starting a run again. Sure its different for all but the first hour about 5,5 miles just felt so easy I almost felt like it was cheating however Im also aware that because sub 5 hours x 7 was my number 1 target it should have felt easy and I had my usual 4 hours to do the rest April 17th will be the real test

Martin sub 9 would be amazing. 

2.?? Would still be incredible with walk breaks. Currently thinking 8.30/1.30 at 8.50 pace it does work out but also thinking first 7 miles in an hour which is one of my regular training runs so could work on it and help allellements of my running.

Left leg/shin definetly soft tissue injury so lucky 24 hours earlier and would not have been able to finish.

18 holes of golf today but used a buggy!

Morning all home tired but very happy total injury list 4 blisters and a left shin that's a bit sore which I think it ok.

As this is a "proper training thread" Well most of the time I hope the following helps especially the Men as we are so poor at this

This week I have learnt more about pacing than at any time in my running life so here are a few facts

1) My fastest half marathon of the week was also my slowest marathon following the usual blow up at 21 miles.  This marathon also contained my fastest mile of the week

2) The next 5 I used a 8/2 run walk from start to finish overall these were nearly all equal splits with the half marathon all within 3 minutes of one another end result all with 5 minutes of each other. In all 5 the last mile was 1 of the quickest

3) On the final day I decided to run again partly due to the shin mentioned above as hurt when I started but also to see what happened. 2nd slowest of the week which is hardly a shock but running even slower that the other days was still harder than the "treat" of a walk in 8 minutes time

Result in 4 weeks time I have my next marathon and will be giving run/walk a go for a sub 4 plenty of time to work on tactics as having at least 2 weeks off

Having just completing my 6th marathon in 6 days using a 8/2 run walk approach from the start can't believe I've just done 4.32. My single day marathons recently have been 4.20 ish because I blow up today e pace. Has anyone used run walk for a sub 4 and if  what was the breakdown and pace. My natural pace is 8.35 so feels possible. Thx

Thx all. Day 5 was another 4.32 followed by 4.37 today. Learnt so much about myself this week and even more about pacing. Really excited about trying some new ideas wjen Im recovered.

I so hope you get your sub 4 in Manchester but if not you could do worse than an enigma run nearly flat. Just a double to go
