Posted: 30/11/2009 at 21:16

hi... I'm 2 years on after have my right hip resurfaced........I . was suppose to be in the london last year but have had to give up running altogether as the pain was too much.   everytime I tried to go for the shortest run I could feel this pain running down from my groin to the knee area..... I really miss racing but I've got over that part now so I like to think of the good times I had.. best of luck

hi dave Nice to hear from you again. It looks like you're enjoying yourself.  your hip doesn't seem to be giving you that much gipp.????? I was thinking about going back to cycling as when I use  to do alot of triathlons  I did  sort of training.  I started club  doing  a local duathlon( various distances )during the summer  months. it's a few years back  but  it is still on the go with folks coming from all over to have a crack on a wednesday night so maybe the short runs and the cycling will be better for me.    I still don't about the London marathon as I suppose I could walk it but I don't know if thats me. always a racer and I can't shake it off.  I hope the venture on the track goes ok      maybe a track star in the making?????cu

hi dave,

hows goes it???? thought I just have a look to see how you're doing. I,

've not done much running at all this last year because after a very short distance I get a dull pain round the hip[ area that  stops me in my tracks so I've come to the conclusion my running days maybe at an end.  I first thought that it was because of lack of running but I think its more of a problem than that. hows it going with you ??? waiting to hear.

Running again after Hip resurfacing

hi nigel,                           nice to hear you've moved to the lake district, we go as a group (scunthorpe mountaineering club) away to the lakes for weekends  staying in BMC huts. I really love that part of the country and you're lucky to be able to live there. my running has taken a nose dive as the pain is in the muscles round the hip is just too much .I can manage about a quarter of a mile and then have to walk. the walking is no problem hence walking in the lakes is just fine. the london marathon is out of the question this year so I'm going down to give support to my son who is doing it for the first time. he's a tae kwon do black belt and does alot of his training with the british team so although he's fit the running part is still going to be hard covering the 26mile distance.      after having the resurfacing I'm 100% better than I was but I don't know if i'll ever get back to  running.     thats life I suppose, I'm glad I can still do something. take care.

martin fox,

was a keen athlete but that came to a grinding halt when I found I had to have a replacement hip. I've  have had the op  done 5 months ago  but its back to square one with any type of training. heart beat up, out of breath, can't run a mile without having to walk.     still keen to get back into some sort of shape.  I   was a runner and I'll always think how much enjoyment it has given me. :0))))))))

hi guys, just to let you know I'm now back at work. I've been trying to run but only get a mile at a good pace when I get this dull pain from the groin area. I don't know if it's because I'm trying to push myself too early or if this is the best its going to be. I'm   seeing the consultant in december  to have a check up  so he maybe able to shed some light on it.  My  walking is fine, my wife and myself are up at 6 every day doing 2 miles before breakfast. I've  got my london number yesterday so I'm going to have to see how things progress.:0))))))) one thing is for sure the hip is 100% better than it was.

after having  a new right hip I'm back to training again. I can't run a mile yet without pain in the general area, but as we know no pain no gain. London acceptance  has dropped on the door mat this morning so I suppose more effort will be needed.    why do we run??????? I don't know but one thing is true I've missed the period  that I could only  walk with two sticks and running was out of the question.  enjoy life, enjoy your running.:0)))))))))
