Great North West Half Marathon

Posted: 18/01/2011 at 11:47

Hi Brian

Is the route description on the leaflet sent out with the numbers correct then? It says the first lap goes as far as the Venue Pub in Clevelleys but the second lap only goes to Bispham.

Love Mud, hate tarmac.

Phil

I have done a couple of muddy races near Bolton. First was the Anglezarke Amble (25 miles, organised by Long Distance Walkers Ass, and welcomes runners) and second was the Rivington Half Marathon (all trails and mud).

If you think Playboy is filthy then you really aren't using the internet to it's full potential.

Kicked-It, this isn't about garmin measurements (I don't think anyone on this thread would go by that), it is the fact that the usual course was not followed due to human error. The usual course may or may not be accurate but what we do know is this year some runners ran further than last.

I did coaster last time and might well do the next challenge, and I don't see why any none running newspaper would care about either. It is good to get the running community together and have a shared experience but to me it isn't anything news worthy and outside the people who run who gives a sh1t.

Personally, what attracted me to coasters was the low key nature and I think the craving for publicity is a bit tacky.

Kick-it/Calf - I really don't get your posts at all. The guy has come on and explained very well that most runners this year ran extra (70 metres from my knowledge of the 'usual' course). This ain't the end of the world (the guy never said it was) but it is a fact and if others hadn't realised might explain why they had a shit split or whatever.

Anyone that went to the roundabout rather than down Saunders Lane would have run an extra 70 metres, so may be an extra 20-30 seconds. If you just missed a PB then I would say it was significant. Shame really because it is an established route but human error can always occur.

Strong dominant women who just want to fight. This is exactly what the internet was invented for. And this site doesn't get blocked like the others I try and access at work!
