thanks for all your comments guys, we are looking forward to meeting you all on the day. The decision regarding earphones was not taken lightly as I also enjoy running with music. But due too the fact if we allow them it will affect our insuance and may prevent us from gaining permissions in the future we just cannot risk it. I am sure you will agree that a race with no earphones is better than no race atall.

Possum hopper are you still up for marshalling? if so email me on melcelt@hotmail.co.uk

thank you

Mel

Thanks to you all, The comments are fair, Glad most of you enjoyed it. We are just pretty upset that not everything went to plan. All I can say is we will do it again next year and work even harder to ensure all is 100%.

ADG - just for reference I work at the school and they let me use it for the event with the understanding that half the profits are donated to their chossen charity and the other half to our choosen charity.  So even Edinburgh managed to run out off water unfortunatelyhappens at the best of races. Also unfortunaelt we did not have the assistance of the police to get water to you.

Apologies to you all, I was only aware that water at one checkpoint had ran out! as soon as I knew this cars were sent with more. I had regular contact with the aid stations and at no point was told that 3 had ran out, until runners who finished told me this. We went back along the route to top up all stations. There was food available at all stations as when the supplies returned they all cam back with left over food. This is our first event with both the half and full, yes we have a lot to learn. But there are not many other races who provide the option for breakfast, food, gels at aid stations, photographer, chip timing, hot showers, cctv bag storage and a meal afterwards. Sorry again to those who felt we did a bad job, but the organisation team consists of only myself and husband, we worked extremely hard to put this event on and called on the help of friends and family to marshall who gave up there own time to do this. All profits are also donated to charity, so don't give us too hard a time and if we do it again next year we will most certainly learn from our mistakes.

Hi Guys,

Don't worry about being too slow, we welcome all standards of runners. I know there are a lot of races who don;t so we wouldn;t want to have someone not enter because they feel too slow.  We will be flexible with the cuts offs also. The cut off of 6 hours is in place so that marshalls and helpers are not out the whole day. If peopl are close to the cut offs then we will allow them to finish.
