Garmin connect website update

Posted: 04/04/2014 at 10:03

gosh...if that is the case then it does look like a "step back" for Garmin.

Nike+ also have that "walled garden" mentality", and it seems counter productive in the long run....trying to lock people in........the reason to upload to Strava is because Strava is better......so surely the solution for Garmin is to make GC better than Strava ...and allow import/export data.....The free version of Stava is more than adequate.....

Polar V800 is due out soon....if the Polar Flow website also looks half decent then I could be temped to switch camps.....shame Garmin can't advise or update people more specifically when the new GC will be available other than what was originally said "end of 1st quarter"...which was a week ago

Garmin connect website update

It feels like Garmin have just taken their foot off the gas.....

Notwithstanding the expected revamp of the GC website....previous working functions have stopped working......almost 6 weeks now that the "split times" don't show when comparing 2 or more activities....a function that I used a lot and miss

I hope the website revamp is soon and half decent.....when I bought my 610 almost 2 years ago Garmin were way ahead of the pack.....now Adidas, Polar, Strava etc etc seem equal if not better......I've opted not to buy a 620 because of no cycling function....and as a result bought a Mio 505HC instead of an Edge 810.

am now getting fed up of waiting....and so many other manufacturers with better user interfaces and websites.....might be time to get off the Garmin bandwagon ?

sorry I seem to have duplicated this thread.

Knebworth 9.2k

I use a Garmin 610.

No loss of reception and good satellite fix.

I have been using the Garmin 2 years now  3-4 times a week and it's always accurate to within about 9-13 metres compared with the other runners in my group that use GPS.

That's why I thought I'd ask if anyone else came up short ?

Agree with you 2wheels...complete waste of time.....I wish now I'd just done usual training, as I lost some running days "tapering down" for what I thought would be a great event....but coming up that short in a massive estate like Knebworth...there is simply no excuse...most runners I know would rather the course was a tiny bit over than under.....but half a mile short.......ridiculous

Nice setting.

Easy access and parking.

But, according to my GPS, the course came up a staggering 800m short.....half a mile !.....curious to know if it was just me that found it short ?

Was it just me ? or did anyone else find the course incredibly short ?

I made it 9.2k !.....a staggering 800m light of the stated distance.....800m !!

To be honest I find it really disappointing when events come up short...I'd much rather they went to 10.1, 10.2......and it's not like there is a shortage of space in Knebworth.

Maybe it wasn't marshalled properly, but I made a conscious effort to stick to the outer perimeters of the yellow flagged markings.

Thoroughly disappointed.

When these courses are mapped I wonder if they test it first with GPS ?

Asics Nimbus 14

Similar story for me....about 550k on a pair of nimbus 12's.....faultless, no injuries...they were brilliant.

When the time came to change I went for Nimbus 14's... and they were terrible....calf injuries, didn't feel good at all......sent them back.....opted for a pair of Kinsei 4's but am still not happy....both feel less cushioned, tighter

I thought it was great....only one complaint...bit of a pinch point in one part (just after 3k mark) moving from bridle path to field.....but a great course....very pretty.....quite hilly......get there early...parking a bit tight.....in a lovely village...and it was 10k (not 9.4)

blimey....if they changed the course the day before then that really does explain the mess.....

would be nice to have one of the organisers on to explain what happened.

never mind I guess -  intention of the thread was to see if anyone else had the same problem as me of 1/2k short.... or if it was my Garmin that was screwed........seems quite a few people had the same problem and are as disappointed as me.

The Munden House 10k (Watford) was also on 6th May this year (last year it was 24th June). I chose to do Watford 10k this year based on the good experience of 2012 that was absent this year.

I think if Watford 10k and Munden House 10k are both on the same date again next year then I might be tempted to do Munden instead....at least its a proper 10k and not next to roads.....and too many tight and narrow points on this years Watford 10k that are no good for overtaking.....a single file bridge...FFS !

....unless, that is,  the race organisers of Watford 10k can sort out a better route for next year...... that is at least 10k...... ??

I know its all a good cause and "fun run" etc....but for me, and I am sure I am not alone, I treat these events reasonably seriously to test how my training has paid off....if a proper 10k distance and a proper route is that unimportant to the organisers then why even bother with chip timing ?....we might as well do the run carrying a fridge on our back or dressd as an ostrich...and walk round drinking a few tinnies on the way.

the more I think about this the more disappointed I am....a whole 1/2k short ....thinking again its completely ridiculaous that it is so short....

..if parts of the course were that important not to cut corners (to make the full 10k distance....eg Km8 across the field) then put more marshalls there......marshalls sitting on a bench on a single file track next to the river are no use...
