For a month or more prior to the event will jog once a week around the local  track bare foot for a mile or two, usually on my warm down.

Ecce, first mile see's a increase in HR, second mile gets me to where my HR reflects my pace.

My pace is the same throughout the run i.e. 8.05 min a mile.

My  HR will stay the same from then ( start of mile 2 ) on till mile 5, with. no drift.

I run 1 mile w/u before starting the above session..

Off to do a PR now, hope you all have a good w/e

Mountains fells and moorlands beats running round the local town any day.

Run more fell races per year than road races, a lot more.

Andi, with improvements like that next year looks promising.

DD, like your laid back approach.

Chick, chin up sure it will come good.

Nayan, Sub 41 got to be happy with that.

Will I did do my 5 mile treadmill run on Tuesday in 40.25 secs At  122bpm average, works out at 76% of MHR . Two more goes to see if it drops much more.

VT , The race is 20 miles over/round  the local hills in the night, on trails and tracks as well as open moorland.

Map reading skills is a must and a good sense of direction.

In the past we have had  snow , driving wind and rain , Mist so thick its like looking at a blank wall 2 ft in front of you.

Mud up to your knees , and puddles up to your armpits.

I love it, along with 100 others and cant wait till the next one.

Andi all the best for your TT.

Brian, good to hear from you.

Today 5 miles at 78% MHR =124 bpm Average  in 40.25 mins,  exactly the same as last week.   Considering I ran a 20 mile  race on Saturday am well happy with things.
