Have been on the injury bench for the last 5 months with two prolapsed disks on my back and this is the last 'proper' even I did.
Gutted I'm not happily training with with this to look forward to, I think it's time to sign up as a check point soup pourer and 3am arse kicker!

Returning after back injury

Well... The results are in! My S2, L5,L4 and L3 are all degenerated and dehydrated. Also have spinal stenosis. Osteopath appointment tomorrow to translate it all into English as here other things mentioned which I don't quite understand!
Has anyone had any experience of injections? Either anti inflammatory or pain relief? It may be something I enquire about tomorrow cos I'm really struggling at the moment, the only pain free position is laying on my front resting on my elbows!

Returning after back injury

Hi, I'm awaiting the results from my MRI but after receiving osteopath treatments for he last four weeks I appear to have a similar problem. My L5 is possibly prolapsed or significantly degenerated with a couple of others showing signs of degeneration too.... The osteopath has helped no end and what with all of the stretches and core work that she has prescribed I'm starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Incredibly frustrating, I've not been able to run in about 3 months now!!
I've now been given the do ahead for gentle gym work, ie yen minutes in the cross trainer, stretches and then ten minutes on a bike as I've got lots of strength etc to build up again.
It's taught me how weak my core was and how Vital your core really is!
Good luck on he recovery guys...

I'm on an identical boat, but mines been since early July. The exact stiffness in the lower back and right blithe that me sound like an 80 yr old when bending over in the first hour after waking up! I've spent good money on two quality osteopaths and two sports physios bit am seeing my gp tomorrow morning. Quite literally a bloody pain in the arse!

Possible hamstring starin?

Posted: 27/08/2013 at 10:55

Do you stretch your hamstrings after running? I'm a notoriously bad stretcher and having had a coupld of physio sessions in the last few weeks for problems with my glutes and hamstrings its something I've been told to work on! I think many runners are lazy when it comes to stretching, I certainly was!

Giving up the booze

Great swim thanks cinders, nobody else in there at all so very peaceful! One thing good about the lack of beer is that the torso is already feeling trimmer! So are people on here abstaining entirely or just trying to limit their intakes? I move house on Friday so it's going to be a mad week here
