Could this be a Stress Fracture

Posted: 08/10/2012 at 13:17

Hi all

I've been running 3.5 miles 3 times a week for the last month or so but about half way round on Tuesday's night run the inside of my ankle starting hurting. I managed to get home but the next day my ankle was puffy. I haven't run since - its not so puffy now but a wee bit sore still I'm just wondering if it could be a stress fracture? Not too sure what to do whether to head off to the Docs or the hospital?

Thanks

Lou

How to carry Smartphone when running?

Hi all

After a 4 year hiatus and 2 children later I have just started back running! I'm just wondering what to do with my Phone? Would really like to take it with me to see how far and how slowly I'm running but don't really fancy the Armband thingies. I am right in thinking the only other option is a Pouch?

Thanks

Lou

Neil - I'm a early morning plodder so I have to stay on the main roads, I try to stay on a route where the CCTV cameras are...:-)

I used to run around Prince William area but stopped when there were reports of the flasher in the area....

Hello from Lisburn - I'm not training for anything in particular at the moment but might try the Belfast Marathon. If I haven't frozen by then, early morning runs this weather are no fun!

Thanks for the replies. What sort of reflective gear do you wear?

I didn't make it out this morning as I'm still a bit jetlagged but Weds morning I'm going to do my best to put my paranoia to one side and get back out there. I'd hate to give up now and have to start all over again next year.

Hi

I've been running early mornings all summer but I've just come back from holiday and tomorrow will be my first dark am run. Do you all carry on with your am runs during the winter?

Thanks

Lou

XB

I'm in Belfast.

I did try to run through the winter last year but heard some strange rustling in a bush one morning and convinced myself that someone was waiting to jump out me. Not very likely as it was 6.00am but I always have had an active imagination!

Sorry about the name change but I've only just worked out how to do it..

After lurking for sometime I thought I'd actually post something!

I started running last spring and was running for 30 mins 3 times a week. I stopped in September because of the dark mornings (I'm not very brave!)

As from next week I'm going to get back out there but I think I need to get some proper shoes as I currently use my Nikes.

Anyway onto my question how do I know if a shop is any good? I know to avoid Footlocker etc.

Thanks
