Hello! Anyone else running Tokyo this year?

I'm going with Sports Tours International, anybody else?

Boston marathon

I agree about the heat and the hills, it was pretty tough out there!

I couldn't get a signal on my garmin so did the first 5 miles way too fast (had no idea what speed I was going and everyone else was going dead fast!) so I was pretty much holding on by my fingernails from mile 9.

Anyway, I was very happy to finish in 3:35:02, especially as I failed to start Boston last year due to a slipped disc (and it took me an hour to walk last year's B.A.A 5k.)

12 months ago I was having surgery so I can't complain.that it wasn't a pb!

I know, looks like the hot weather is expected from Tuesday now, 14 degrees sounds ideal!

Me too for the pudding race, wore my santa hat all the way around last year, wont do that again! Might also do the Inskip race again.

Well done on going sub 20 SJPC, I dream of that!

Berlin Marathon 2013

Sounds v romantic Andy, we're staying at the Omni Parker House which is Downtown I think. Have you been before? I have never known a city so completely taken over by the marathon. it is unbelievably brilliant.  Maybe we should start a Boston thread somewhere?

Thanks very much Emmy, I am still pinching myself. Crossed the finish line and immediately bust into tears.

Berlin was great, nice and flat with plenty to look at, I really didn't know how it was going to feel, running 26  miles as only 1 foot is working properly due to some nerve damage but I was really thrilled to finish in 3:36:19.

I could only train on alternate days to rest my back in between so often just ran 3 times a week, which didn't feel like enough training.

Feel a lot more confident about running Boston next year now.

Pilates is quite funny, it looks really easy when you see other people doing it (especially the older ladies in the group!) but when you try it yourself it's dead hard! Planning to keep it up though as I'm sure there must be a six pack somewhere hiding under all the flab!

Hey Andy, I'm doing Boston and can't wait! Should have been running this year but suffered a prolapsed disc just before we left. Went anyway (as it was all booked and paid for) and it took me 56 minutes to walk the 5k on the Sunday  Really enjoyed the city but obviously completely devastated by what happened. Think it's going to be emotional next year.

Chuffed to bits to finish Berlin in 3:36 had the disc operation in May so training has been a bit tricky to say the least

Sorry I have been absent, I was in a massive sulk because I couldn't run after the disc operation in May, anyway, I have worked really hard with pilates, swimming and cross training and have got back to running a bit now, did the Berlin marathon on Sunday and although I have promised the physio I would take October off I am hoping to do some short local races and maybe some cross country races. Nice to be back.
