Haha, no way!

What's it doing there?  This forum really has gone to the dogs.

Cheers Stephen.

Day 3 - 6 miles steady

Felt - tired already

Observations - Saw that student who works in Aldi.  94% certain he was doing the walk of shame.

No takers!

Might use thread as personal training log until someone joins me.  Here goes.

Day 2 - 5 miles race pace

Felt - Good

Observations - Tourette's man outside Caffe Nero by St Marys seems a bit calmer this week, still not giving thumbs up to passers-by though.

(Apologies if there's already a thread on this, but I looked pretty hard and couldn't see one)

Thought it would be good to get a thread going as it's 16 weeks from here and I guess a few people (including me if I've counted properly) will have started programmes today.

Really looking forward to it. It'll be my 7th marathon, 3rd time in Berlin, hoping at the moment to get under 3:10, which would be a PB.

Please feel absolutely free to post on here with hopes/expectations/thoughts/general tripe and hopefully we can provide each other bit of moral support/a laugh if we're lucky.

OK, 16 weeks from Monday, guess a lot of people will be starting their programmes proper.

How's everyone feeling?

Struggling a bit for motivation tbh but I'll be fine after a week or two.  Ran a PB at the Chester half a few weeks ago so am in reasonable shape.

Leeds Rob - think I last saw you in Paris 2009?

er, Avit, reading the posts above no-one really seems to be complaining despite the work/money they've put in.

They seem to have a bit more compassion than you actually.

I really can't decide about this.  On the one hand I'd love to do my home town marathon and wake up/go to sleep in my own bed on marathon day.  On the other (sincere apologies Trafford residents) the route just seems pretty dull.

I'm sure there are excellent reasons why the race doesn't (seem to) leave the borders of Trafford, and the Council are to be applauded for allowing it to be staged, I just wish it took in a bit more of the city.  The old route did, although I can appreciate it must have been a logistical nightmare.

Think I probably will enter though.

We got an apartment this year.  It was great and only cost 100 Euros a night between 3 of us.  It had a balcony with a view of the TV tower and just generally felt more relaxing than a hotel, especially when you spend a lot of the time pre-race just resting up.

It also meant no worrying about whether the restaurant will serve you enough pasta or whether the hotel will be able to make porridge or not.

Goncalo - a lot of the photos are up already on marathonfoto.com

Woah, great times folks, congratulations all.

3:12:37, so a couple of minutes knocked off the PB. Happily take that after being on the Lemsip for the past few days. Not sure the cold made any difference, think I would still have died in the last 3 miles anyway!

Loved the whole event today, will be back next year.

TD - great to meet you out on the course, sorry you weren't having a good day. Hope you don't decide it was your last mara, would love to bump into you again.

Big Dipz - I've usually carried gels in one of those wallet things you can get that strap round your upper arm.  They work fine for me.  If you think it might work for you you should be able to get one at the expo if you can't get to a running shop before you fly out.
