Comrades 2014

Posted: 06/06/2014 at 17:03

Had a great time at Comrades this year there was such a great bunch of us out there this year.

Great write WA Transvulcania is another epic event it gets pretty hot during that to.

Very happy with 7.49 despite picking up a ankle injury in the first 10k's which made it an even more painful run.

Well done all who took part there was some fantastic results especially Jacquie you are amazing.

Will be back next year again trying for a Silver.

Great run for me, good aid stations plenty of water and food, maybe a few of you should train harder and run quicker it is a race you know. Ran 3.22 only took 1-2 drinks at most stations there was plenty there going out and coming back. The route was very easy out and back.

Your be fine with your Cascadia's, I'll either wear old road shoes or a light trail shoe. The only shoes you don't want are fell shoes or with thick heavy soles.

I ran the NDW 50 in 8.54 (plus 2 miles extra going wrong at the end) ran Comrades in 8.02. It's hard to compare the two as you say trail v road. The NDW I had to walk most of the steep hills where Comrades I run most of the way with short walking breaks. The same with Eco Trail de Paris80k time 8.20. Comrades is more brutal on the feet and legs as your pounding up and down the road. Enjoyed both events if your've done the NDW you can easy do Comrades, it's just about managing the route thats way it's a good idea to go on the route tour they put on. I'll be back year to do my back to back.
