Comrades 2015

Posted: 01/09/2014 at 13:34

Bored at work so just popped on here. Lovely to see you all entering and getting the chat going. I won't be going back as did my B2B this year and got the time and medal I wanted after two amazing years and know I will see so many of you at UK based events - I already have done !! Onwards and upwards to get into the 100 marathon club for me, at a pace that will keep me and my family sane. 40 to go so I will be busy to get to my planned target in summer 2016 - gotta have a plan !!

SO...just want to wish you ALL the very best, happy and safe training and I will be an occasional lurker and look forward to tracking lots of you on the day......it's going to be tough to stay away.

This is a brilliant event and that's why the summer marathon is full up. I would deffo recommend it and am doing the summer version and reason I am on here is that I am toying with the winter run....decisions, decisions. Ahh who am I kidding.....I WILL enter !!

Am very much looking forward to this event. Did the full in 2012, marshalled last year in the pouring rain so am ready for a comeback. Will be my fourth marathon in August so will hopefully make it and am sure will by then be running slow enough to take in all the views !!

Am also considering this after doing the Croydon Ultra yesterday. Who would have thought Croydon could be so hilly and countryfied !!

Before I went to Comrades this year I watched a video clip of the down route, super speeded up with a great sound track. Made me dead nervous watching it but watched it again last night and could remember so much of it. What a wonderful event it is and 3 weeks down the line, it's still sinking in what we achieved. I'm not going back next year but I was so wanting a bronze last year but alas missed it by 11 minutes. I think I might just make a return trip one year for that elusive Up bronze.

Possum hopper, further to your query to RR in the Comrades 2014 thread: Croydon 30 new route (started last year) includes some trail through woods early on, so less on the country roads. It's a pleasant, small, low-key race, with quite a choice of nibbles at (approx) 7.5, 15 and 22.5 miles. 2012 (when I ran it) it varied between heavy rain and light rain, but was warm (about 18 C); last year (when I staffed the 22.5 mile checkpoint) it was hot and sunny.

Thanks De
bra - i was just concerned about reading maps as i do need glasses and can't be bothered to wear / carry them when running. Thanks for your help.
