Comrades 2013

Hi there - just reading your updates.

I am exhausted with it all. Anyone else ?????

Having said that, I am enjoying it and get pangs of excitement / anxiety every time I think about it - which is a lot !

Have had to look at my eating habits as have lost over half a stone in weight and I wasn't very big to start with. went through a few days of feeling sick, dizzy and faint in the mornings and had my other half berate me for not looking after myself !! he is a veggie and went out and bought me some steaks, lamb chops etc etc.

I did a made up ultra on Good Friday - Foxys GF Enigma and i added on a lap to make it 30. Was my longest run to date and since last ultra in 2010 wheree I vowed never again !!

Wish I'd entered Sussex Marathon this Sunday but alas had to squeeze a family weekend into my crazy training. Brighton mara next week then Crawley Track, followed by Bewl Water on Saturday and 3 Forts Half the day after. I hope that will be enough...............Jeez it better be.

Asics training starts now...!!

Hi Mel,

Have just texted you to see how you are and to wish you GOOOOOOD LUCK !!

I too have a tummy bug thing and for the past 3 days have been feeling faint, dizzy and just sick and my long suffering man has TOLD ME in no uncertain terms that I need to get myself some Boots Hydration Salts. Just an idea. He thinks it is too much Comrades training and not eating enough protein but I think I have a bug - like you.

I'm guessing you won't be at club later but I am going to give you a shout out just so everyone can send out good luck / happy vibes to you.

xxxxx

What a busy bunch we are.

Congratulations on the new baby, fast running, learning new languages. Bad luck on the silly injuries but yes, time to get better.

I did Steyning Stinger marathon last week and it was great. This week sees me doing a 7 miler xtomoz which includes 15 'ups' and 'downs' on a local hill of about 3 mins each and on Sunday, one ot the most boring runs ever - Worthing 20 - 4 laps around residential roads all flat. Great one for pace though and just getting some miles in. Plan to run home after which will be another 5 miles so. Then hope to be fussed over by my two daughters.

Good running everyone.

Stetning Stinger this Sunday for me...Worthing 20 the weekend after...Foxy's Good Friday marathon on Good Friday funnily enough, where I am hoping to do an extra lap of the lake to 'make' it an ultra.

Hi there - am liking the green T very much, although fully appreciate maybe green best kept for non Comrade virgins like me !!

I am also doing Steyning next weekend and am looking forward to it....will be my 3rd time at it and hope the weather is kinder than it was last year as it was just dire....altho that in itself made it fun as it was so dire !! Brilliant event, nice and relaxed, great munchies at water stations etc etc and the best cup of tea EVER to wash down a cooked breakfast when you finish. Love it.

Wish I'd booked onto a run this weekend and did look at Midnight run, but family stuff to do. Will now do my long run from Brighton pier to Littlehampton pier tomorrow. Will be chilly but at least the wind will be behind me. My usual run-buds have all decamped to Malta to do the marathon there and how I wish I'd decided to go as it sure is easier doing the LSR's with others !!

Have a good weekend running and be safe out there.

Hi there - great T's and liking the green one although fully appreciate the green being for those who have done Comrades before and not for novices like me. I am from Ireland although now living in England so would be interested in an Irish one......

Am also doing Steyning next weekend and wish I was doing an organised event this weekend as it asure does make it easier to run with others !! My usual running buddies all decamped to Malta this weekend for marathon there. I wish I'd gone with them !!

Will be my 3rd time at Steyning and am looking forward to it and hope the weather is better than last year when it was dire, but kind of fun as it was so dire !!

Plan to run from Brighton to Littlehampton tomorrow for my 20 miler and wind will be chilly, but behind me thank goodness.

Portsmouth half for me yesterday - plus 6 miles add on. Beautiful sunshine but that meant lots of people promenading on the promenade which was interesting for the 950 plus runners to negotiate. Gorgeous views over the Solent and lots of big ships to check out....I do like a run with something to look at other than someones bottom in front of me.
