WA...SNAP!! Me too thinking about such things. I have visions of just how awful the loo's at PMB will be !! God almighty. We all have our little ways to go about things before a run, but this one will get most of us well out of our comfort zone with the logistics at the beginning.....crazy eh to be thinking about it but hey.

Was also wondering about clothing to wear as will be doing bag drop at Expo on the Saturday so anything I wear on the coach will be ditched. Am thinking old trackies which i can get off over my trainers without too much hassle, sweatshirt and crappy gloves, as have been told it is cold enough for gloves.

It's good to focus on logistics rather than what lies ahead for the run.....maybe.

Thanks WA for posting review of down run.......a very good it scary read !

Becca - I think you are on the same flight as Tim. I fly out with BA, Heathrow, on Thursday, arriving Friday morning, ready to hit the expo. I hope arriving a day later will not be the wrong decision as will miss the drinks do on Thursday and cannot fit in a bus tour. Oh well.

It was tough this weekend to stay away from marathons - was very tempted to go to Orpington but decided to play safe and stick to my Dom Oliver taper plan.

Richmond looked great yesterday and well done all of you who ran it. I stayed local and paced a fellow club runner to a PB at a local 10k - managed to get her 3 mins off her previous time, so, my day was not wasted.

It really is hard winding down, and being careful. My run on Saturday - only 6 miles - felt like I was going through treacle. 'Taper Legs' Becca called them and she is right. I hope that's all it was.

After all the months training, I am now realising it is JUST next week that we all fly. I need to do myself a 'to do' list or I'll just disappear up my own backside and jibber more than I usually do !!

Massage booked for 1.00 today with ultrasound on Achilles - last one next week.

Great to be able to work on our tans...very girlie I know....and not arrive in SA with pasty white skin, as is usual !

Enjoy the sun if that's your thing, and be safe.

Oh and me also tempted by the rugby seeing as I am a Stormers fan, but think common sense will prevail and I will be trying to sleep, or shopping at Expo.

Hi everyone - not been on here for a while as kept messing up my password. which is not a bad thing as meant I wasn't messing about on here whilst supposed to be working !

Great to see everyone doing so well. Enjoyed 3 Forts with Douglas who kept me going when I wanted to walk too soon......great to see Jacquie and cam at Bewl and well done everyone who did a double either last weekend or the one before.

Have managed to get a blister right on the side of my heel from 3 Forts and it came back at Bewl - it actually burst as I charged down the home straight, wind behind me and not a care in the world. Lovely.

I think my taper is quite mild compared to some with a long run this weekend of 18 miles, next weekend 10 and no more than a 7 during the week....on hills.

Had a massage and ultrasound yesterday, booked another for next Monday and againt the week after and then fly out on the Thursday - arriving Friday morning.

Had been umming and ahhing about doing Orpington mara this Saturday but I will be sensible and listen to some more experienced Comaradians (is there such a word??) on here and probs not.

Good to see you all keeping so well.

Lots of good and useful info on here.....thanks everyone.

Douglas - really sorry you are unwell but still hope to see you tomorrow at Crawley.

So yes, Crawley Track for me tomorrow. 6 hours on the flat - not ideal Comardes training - more of a mind training event. The weather is forcasted to be pretty gross but at least I can have a bag of warm, dry clothing to change into during the event at trackside, when I get too saturated during the day - a dry pair of trainers may well be in order for half way changing.

Can't BELIEVE how close it all is......this time 5 weeks I will hopefully be arriving in Durban. So close.

Good running everyone and stay fit and healthy.

Hey everyone - great running goin on out there and well done to Becca for her Boston time. Brilliant.

Had a good training run with Douglas on Sunday - 21 miles up along the SDW - mostly on 3 Forts route and in the peeing down rain. Picked his brain re Comrades Downhill and despite the rain, we had a very good and solid run.

Crawley Track this Saturday and a pal has been trying to 'persuade' me to go run the LDWA SDW marathon on the Sunday, but common sense will prevail and I will stick local and do a nice little 10k Bluebell 10k to be precise - in my local woods.

Well done everyone and not long now.

Thanks guys and yes, have bowed to your combined experiences and have decided to stay at home and 'save' myself for a LSR with Douglas and his pal on Sunday.

Jacquie - have had a good response from Chris re Broadmeadow and told him I am going to give it a miss this year but yes, looks like a pretty good event for another year.

Thanks Marty for Brighton congrats.

All is calm now in PH world....
