My #asics262 journey to Paris: Sub-3:30 Malcolm

As a slight diversion to the running your are doing Malcs (and everyone else, you seem to be inspiring people to join in. Myself included did a nice 4.25 in 35:42 which for a man built for comfort like me is quite good), I'm going to ask some really important questions.

1. Favourite Film? 2. Roast Chicken or Roast Beef?  3. Favorite Christmas Song? 4. Road Bike or Mountain Bike? 5. Garmin or App on Phone? and 6. Apart from when traning is it acceptable to wear white socks in public?

Thank you seren, I am available for training plans, but have no qualifications, so cannot guarantee results.

Definitely going to follow the plan, going to do taunton on the 6th April and looking to get nearer 3:45.00

Hey James

Glad the weekend went well. Your times are certainly a good base for a sub 4hours, and with the legend that is Sam Murphy on your back you may be suprised of what you can achieve.

There do seem to be a few doing Bath Half, myself and Mrs Reg included. If you want to do it and can get the go ahead I know of a charity (that I am running for) that has a place left.

I like the idea of a run on Christmas day but Mrs Reg may take something very valuable off me an serve instead of Pigs in Blankets.  And by the time i've watched Elf, Muppets Christmas Carol and the Queen, I'm done.

I'm liking the training plan and have already got a couple of sessions in mind to adapt. 4M with 2M at marathon pace is on for tomorrow.

Hey Malcs,   Your training plan should have read:

Christmas Day: Wake up, Open Presents, Wed 5M steady (approx 8:30 miles in 42 mins), Eat, Drink and be very merry!

Boxing Day: Wake Up, take some ibruprofen, drink some rehydration fluid, go back to bed, wake up again, eat a bacon sandwich, Thu 5M of 1M jog, then 3M at half-marathon pace (22 mins) then 1M jog, Eat Drink and be very merry again.

Fri: Rest Day!

The long run debate and pacing is one that goes on most weeks at our running club.

Think I did 3 @ 20 ish last year all at 9:30 pace. Mp of 9mm to get sub 4. Seemed to work, but feel this year I will want to do 5 or 6 over the course of training.
Also one of the runs on the boring, straightest, tiresome routes when it's raining and cold. That way when in the marathon of things get a bit tricky I have in my mind that I've done harder runs than this.

Like minni's thoughts on injecting pace every now and again.

Hey Malcs, this thread is going along quickly, not even time to catch up properly. There was talk about rugby, well that is a hot topic in my house with recent events at Bath!

Really I am jealous of this Marathon talk so am going to do Taunton Marathon in April. I am, and don't try and talk me out of it.

Hey James, so we kind of have a connection, and if you have any dirt please feel free to spill the beans.

I entered this last year and from what I learnt from Bootcamp continued to help improve to a 21 minute PB at Brighton last year in 3.55:45.

It can be done and sure you will suceed, just be careful of Malcs!

Malcs as I only dip in and out the forum, some of the regulars scare me a little, can you also post the main points on twitter.

Then I can come on this thread and add my thoughts of encouragement or not as the case may be.

Oh by the way congratulations, glad the 200 or so votes I managed to cast helped!
