Hoping for a warm one this year and not a swamp mud feast like 2012

advise - Knee Pain from over running

Posted: 12/04/2014 at 22:27

Hi Richie, I can empathize as developed runners knee after multiple marathons last year kept me out for months. Knee injuries can be take a long time to fix. I fixed mine using these http://www.bigkneepain.com/knee-exercises.html and massage from a physio. Lunges don't agree with me as I found out a few weeks ago. I would also recommend a foam roller as most of my knee problems seem to develop as a result of something being tight. I would also say you're better strengthening your knee muscles through exercise rather than supports. I found wall sits fantastic. As for running through it I would get it checked. I have learned through my own experience six weeks strengthening and rest is preferable to six months on the sidelines. Hopefully something minor though good luck

Lap 2 on the greenway still gives me nightmares after 3 stratty marathons. When the sun is out its horrible but still better than the 2012 swim down the greenway!

Have ran it four times and have entered this year as well.it is not particularly hilly as señor spam described, but the greenway surface on the second lap makes it tough going at times.Having said that it's well organised a good challenge and a nice finish area to meet up with family afterwards. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Runners Knee and 6 Weeks 'til London! Help - Advice Needed!

Would definitely go and see a good sports physio. I developed runners knee after a marathon last year (was running 1or 2 a month). I had ignored a maltracking knee for months. I remember at the time having  your fears a-c and didn't listen to the signs or seek physio advice earlier enough as a result I was out for months and missed about 8 marathons.hopefully yours is just a niggle but get it checked

Wokingham half marathon cancelled

Posted: 10/02/2014 at 17:07

its unfortunate but unavoidable. many of us lost money on gloucester marathon and got nothing back so at least the wokingham people have done the right thing. I would rather not risk injury running or swimming  on a flooded course. Time to move on
