Amazing IM Achievement Seren.

Knee is a lot better now. More stiffness and soreness than pain (except when squatting!).

So I'm back walking daily. Plan is to lose weight, build strength through walking and then hopefully running again.

So will be walking Llanelli 10k with a friend who luckily is also coming back from injury.

Recently after a weekend of gardening (lot's of kneeling) my right knee swelled up and was very painful.

A visit to the Doctors and the hospital for X-rays reveals I have osteoarthritis in my knee (probably as a result of a motorbike accident trauma to my knee when I was 17 - I'm 44 now).

The Doctor suggested I took up lower impact sports, particularly as I'm a well-built guy.

Reading up on the internet - as usual there is a mixed bag of opinions - some saying to stop, some saying continue and some saying adapt style, surfaces etc. and then continue.

I'm also due to see a physio who hopefully can give me a good professional opinion.

Has anyone on here been diagnosed with OA and if so what did you do?

or try vibram five fingers? They would roll / squash up small in hand luggage and also be a good holiday shoe for the beach or by the pool?

Well guys after a week my knee was still very swollen and painful so the Doctor sent me to the hospital for X Rays. It turns out I've got oesteo-arthritis in my knees so the doctor has sent me for physio and recommended no running at the moment.

The plan is physio, lots of walking and cycling, lose weight, build strength in knees and then hopefully get back running if all is ok.

hi guys - Doctor has sidelined me from running at the moment. So will be power walking this one instead!

Hi guys. I'm currently sidelined with bad knees! It followed a full day of gardening on Saturday. I think all the kneeling has caused my knees to swell and hurt! Hopefully back to it tomorrow - especially as the weather is improving.

I've worked on construction projects at NLW - what a great place. 

Not sure I'm a 65 min WP - that's my only race benchmark. Don't reckon I'll be quite that pace so I better head for 75!
