Thanks Cake, might be a goer. There's a half in Ripon in September too with free camping, not that I'm lazy and don't want to travel more than an hour away from home...

Slateman in May great race

Looks nice and I'd be well up for the trail run, but no way could I cycle over the Pass. My car struggles enough in 2nd gear

Thanks buddha, found that thread now. Seem to be mostly later in the year. Decisions, decisions...

I've got an Outlaw place but might not be able to do it due to family circumstances... so on the lookout for a potential alternative goal earlier in the year. Anyone know of anything good? I've got my name down for the Pirate DIY Half but might be nice to get a cr*ppy plastic medal somewhere as well

Are you allowed to stop the clock while you rest after each length?

will a turbo ruin my tyre?

The instructions on my turbo say not to use your brakes as it will "knacker it" (or something equally technical).

Yeah, but what if the cat jumps out in front of you...?

The only good thing in The Rules is the Greg Henderson quote:

"Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired".

The rest of it is just homoerotic nonsense

I recently bought a cheap Shimano wheelset - rear one for turbo use, and front one to replace a knackered wheel.  They were Shimano R501, cost £72 from Ribble (RRP £129). Seem fine so far.

Cassette I got was a 10 speed Tiagra, again from Ribble, for under £20.

Stuck an old worn out tyre on rather than buying a turbo tyre.

You could upgrade your wheels but it'll cost you a lot more than £92

Now - what does fat buddha think...?
